  1. The 2009 Mastercraft Prostar 197 coming out of storage! Likely hitting the water Sunday. Highs around 60, water around 40. Now while we aren't going to do the math I would say that is an unfortunate Baller Index value but that's why the dry suit was invented!
  2. Thanks for the help everyone. We'll start our search for something in the 76-80 inch range.
  3. @oldjeep, the University of Iowa Waterski Team. GO HAWKS! Alumni by chance?
  4. As a team we currently own one pair of jumpers that are getting older than most people would dare use/becoming unsafe with peeling/separation at the sides. We are looking into used skis but we wanted to ask people with more experience than ourselves what size would be appropriate? At the collegiate level in the Midwest many people take there first look at a ramp Sunday morning at a tournament, people on team across the region are handed a grimy helmet, a tattered jump suit, and a pair of skis and told to ride over what appears to be a big scary red wall. To most of our surprise most people actually give it the old college try and hit the ramp, this is why the 1st round of men's and women's jump is often called Men's/Women's Crash. This is the bottom of the skill range we work with while at the top our team has seen skiers who debuted in Men's/Women's Crash improve to approaching 80 feet. We are looking for length of ski that will allow our veteran members to reach there full potential while also allowing beginners to be able to have some level of control over the skis. We think this means something in the 82-86" range but are unsure and would rather ask then buy than spend several hundred dollars to discover that we bought something that isn't right.
  5. We plan on it, first stop Missouri, then on to Ames for a tournament at Dream Lakes, and then for the third and final spring tournament we're hosting Hawkeye Hypothermia May 3-4 (judges/scorers welcome, officials get a pull after the tourney).
  6. Well as of now the Iowa Ski Team has been back from our spring break trip down to Bennett's Water Ski School for a week and a half and as anyone from the Midwest can understand, we are already missing the water again. While down there we saw one of our freshman women's skiers run her first pass ever, one of our senior (old balls) members skied a personal best of 4 at 34 mph 15 off. Our most improved freshman from our spring awards ceremony who hadn't been on skis before the fall semester progressed so far on the combo trick skis that the coaches ran out of tricks to teach him other than line step overs while also beginning to cut at the ramp and get buoys in the course. Congratulations to all of our skiers and we're looking forwards to our first competition in Missouri April 12th and 13th!
