  1. With Web you can do anything for viewing....I promoted 2 Coors Light stops way back when, and I can tell you to get the sponsors and crowd it was more of a show...constant entertainment. It was less about the performance (seldom a private lake). Case and point Wichita, KS...sea walls and a current, but 10k plus spectators. That sells to sponsors, using their product during the competition sells to sponsors...Sponsors bring the cash for the skiers. You have to shorten enough to keep the viewer engaged, but also bring back the money for these competitors.
  2. I ski about the same as @Horton so not sure my tips are that different.

I did live in Orlando and got to drive for some of the best skiers in the world in tournaments and practice. One thing they did in practice across the board is run 32 over and over. Then often skip to 38 and run it. The other thing one did frequently is start the second set at 39 right out of the boat. That always amazed me, but I am easily amazed.

  3. 2100 is good we have our most used lake of 4 at 1900, and the lake we have that is 2150 feels like you are waiting along time to pull out...

I would pay attention to the fact you will have some erosion. Make it deep to ski well but also accommodate some erosion.

  4. A couple learnings....We have a ramp that is long enough, wide enough, but was built a little short. So, at the end there was a hole created from driving boats on the trailer. And all that dirt gets piled up to form a ridge/shallow spot about 50' out in the lake. We filled in the hole with rock smoothed best we could and poured concrete over it...yes concrete pours just fine under water. Still have the shallow spot...
  5. The funniest argument I have heard over the years at our lake is that your jump boat goes 35mph and our wakeboard boat only goes 22mph so we don't do as much damage as you...I ask with your theory what happens when they have drag boat races that must tear the hell out of the shore lines? 100+mph

This is about mass...like getting tackled by a 100 lb guy vs a 250 lb guy.

I did not know the increased number of waves that was mentioned earlier with the surfboat. Interesting stuff..Thanks

  6. I skied at a lake in OKC that had hard water. We used hull cleaner which is an acid to take it off. You will need to wear gloves, and it will be on the bottom too. We never cleaned that as much. Then wax it. It will come back depending on wipe down method you use will tell how long it lasts.
  7. My .02

I hosted two Coors Light Waterski Tour Stops back way back when. I think when we lost the fact that it was more of a show than a competition is when it went south. People came to Wichita Ks on a river to see a show of Bare footing, Jet skiing, and water skiing. The conditions sucked, but the crowd was huge(thousands)...Bob, Kris, Sammy, Lucky, Carl, Mike, etc were rock stars with posters to sign. There were thousands that watched in Oklahoma City stops too. When was the last time more than a few hundred showed up for any waterski tournament? Maybe the time has gone, or maybe we get too caught up in can I break a record vs. visibility/making the skiers $.

  8. I don't think it's a fail. MC could dominate the market if they can produce the boats quickly. At that price point compared to CC I bet a number of us switch. If you have to wait a year like a friend of mine was told for a promo then the MC will be a fail too.
  9. I live at Princeton Lakes and I bet we have less than 40% of the on water lot owners that are members of USA water ski....maybe the skiers are still out there, but just see no value in joining? If you don't appeal to people that would spend $500k+ to be on a private ski lake maybe it is the product? (Cost/Value of USA Water Ski Membership)
