  1. @svxwilson , what ski were u on?

Thanks folks. These responses are reassuring. I'm not above slowing it down to 24 to get through the course then gradually speed it up.

I'm still not 100% sure I'm sold on the butterknife... (just a little too futuristic for me!)

  2. @ThePantsManCan , I was watching the promo videos and Rini said he was skiing the course at 17-18 mph on the butterknife. I guess I can't go wrong with it. The design just freaks me out a little. I need to have the confidence In Radar that I do with their previous era skis!

  3. That ski kinda freaks me out just looking at it! Any personal experience @ThePantsManCan ? I'm consistently making it around 3, almost to 4 at 26mph on the Vapor. I figure a little slower on a more stable ski and I'll be there. What's max speed of the butterknife?

  4. I'm currently on a 2016 Alloy Vapor, 68 inch. I've slowed down to 26mph and made much more progress in the course. But, at 220 lbs and 26mph, I REALLY drag through the course on the Vapor. I haven't had luck finding a 69" Theory but did just find a 2014 69" HO TX, New Old Stock. With the longer, wider ski, do you all think it would benefit me to switch skis for now? I've thought of even going down to 24mph until I run the course. I can always upgrade skis later.

Also, I've got my old Obrien Targa bindings (mounted on aluminum plates) on my Vapor now. Will they fit on the TX?

    Thanks

  5. Take this from a guy who has never skied a full pass... How fast were you skiing? I slowed the boat down from 30mph to 26mph last night and it made all the difference in the world. Yes, it was more work for me since I'm fat and was not riding high on the water. BUT, at 30 mph, I was having difficulty making it to 2 ball very often. Last night, I rounded 3 ball consistently and came very close to 4 a few times. Maybe consider what @ScottScott said and slow it down a little bit! Good luck.
  6. At 220 lbs and still learning the course, my 2016 68" Alloy Vapor (with maybe 1/2 season of rides on it) is just not big to slow way down like I need to. I'm thinking I'll break out the old 67" P-6 tomorrow and slow way, way down until I get it (26 mph slow). Here's my question, should I just measure to the back of the front binding as it came and go with that? Or, does someone have a distance to the rear of the front boot? @eddie_roberts_jr @savaiusini ?? I believe it's a 2014 (67 inch). It's blue.

Also, what are your ideas about selling the alloy vapor and moving down to a Senate graphite or Senate lithium once I start successfully running the course? I'll never ski 36 mph and it will be quite some time, if ever, that I'm able to outperform the Senate.

Thanks in advance for the input.

  7. As I fight to get comfortable with my offside turn and actually skiing across course instead of down course, it amazes me to watch him ski. It LOOKS like he is going way down course (angle wise) but he is SOOO EARLY. I'm glad there isn't any drone footage of me. I'm afraid it would look like I was skiing directly behind the boat the whole time! Nice skiing K.C.!
