  1. Love this post! I’m literally in the same position - retiring my beloved 25 year old Kidder Redline. Would love to have gone down the D3 route, but… $$$$. For what it’s worth, I’m going with the Senate Alloy….
  2. The Senate Alloy has been on my radar (see what I did there?) for a while now, but mostly because I won’t of a proper D3 comparison?
  3. Long story short: I have a 25 year old Kidder Redline that I need to replace. I haven't ridden it in a few years ( haven't skied at all during that time ) and the bindings are too tight to safely ski. I have never skied anything other than a Redline ( started in late high school ) and am not sure in which direction to go to replace. The rub is that I can't really try something before I buy, mostly because I am going to buy used. I was thinking something in the D3 line to keep in the Kidder family? Or maybe a Radar Senate? What would be the most appropriate/best/direct replacement for my old ski? Side note: I ski open water ( never a course ) at roughly 32 and 0' off.
  4. Foot size, yes… weight range is probably 140-170
  5. All things equal, I would have selected a Senate for myself as it best matches my ski level (50yrs old, been skiing most of my life, open water, usually about 32mph). But…. I have a son a nephew who want to learn to slalom and am considering a Union as it might be a bit more forgiving for them to learn on? Would that be an accurate assessment and would I still be able to push the ski for my own enjoyment?
  6. On which would I feel the sinking/drag - the 65 or the 66?
  7. Where/how would I see a differerence?
  8. What do any Strada owners (or others) think about a 65" Strada for a 165lbs guy (me)? I ski open water, maybe 30-32mph, full line... I know the specs say a 66 or even 67 is my weight range, but two sisters will be skiing it also and I am wondering whether I can get away with it...
  9. Thanks a ton for the info!
  10. I would have loved to stay in the Kidder family, but the budget won't allow me to touch the D3 skis. :-( Which D3 did you go with?
  11. I am going to be replacing my *very* old Kidder Redline with either a used Strada or a used Senate. Most that I am finding are blanks, so I need to find bindings ( preferably used ). I am trying to stay as cost conscious as I can and would love ( though don't know if its possible ) to stay under $150 for both bindings. I generally wear a 10.5 shoe, but my two sisters may also use the ski... so I was looking for bindings that would fit a size range would be ideal. I was looking as the Strada Vector size Medium boots, but am just lost at this point. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
  12. Thanks for the all of the info, everyone! I think I have it down to a Strada or Senate, depending on which I can find for a better price.
  13. I have read such wonderful things about the Strada. Why did they discontinue it so early?
