  1. Another video - stormy weather shoot at a North Carolina INT tournament: YouTube: Facebook (to share post with friends): http://www.facebook.com/jordanlakeskiclub/
  2. Hi folks! A new ski video from JLKSG has been released, featuring footage from our weekend at April Coble’s ski school in Lillington, NC. Enjoy, and share! YouTube: Facebook (to share post with friends): http://www.facebook.com/jordanlakeskiclub/
  3. What???? Well, we're making sure that never happens again! Next time you'll have to stop by with the whole family and meet some of our crews. :-)
  4. There are a lot of very enthusiastic youngsters. It's exciting to see how much they love it, and how quickly they learn.
  5. Great! We have a member who frequently skies up at Hyco Lake, which is right on the VA/NC border (~30min from Danville). If it's too far for you to make it down to the Raleigh area, Hyco would be a great place for us to meet you part-way.
  6. Hi folks! For those who have not yet heard of Jordan Lake Ski Group (based just outside of Raleigh, NC), here is a short video introduction with a few of our members. #JLKSG is dedicated to expanding the sport in new and innovative ways. http://www.jordanlakeskigroup.com/ If you visit our part of the country, jump on our website and give us a shout. We love visitors and have the perfect ski locations for everyone from rank beginners to seasoned pros. (For you elite skiers, we are only 45min from April Coble's ski school and make frequent excursions there.) Ski you soon! #JLKSG
  7. All I could think was: "Who the heck would want to run 13 miles when they could be skiing??" Never mind...
  8. As good or better than the soccer ball: http://www.power-systems.com/p-2951-myo-release-ball.aspx Note the option of two different sizes. I'm a classical concert violinist, amateur ballet dancer & skier. The best thing I ever did for my back (and body overall) was learn self-myofasial release techniques. It releases the muscles and allows them to recover effectively. Used daily, I find that muscle pain is no longer an inhibiting problem; and healthy alignment is much easier to maintain. Foam rollers are good. I find that this foam ball (link above) is even more versatile. Plus it fits much more easily in a suitcase when traveling. I am NOT affiliated with PowerSystems (the manufacturer) - simply a very happy repeat customer.
  9. Also, if you feel you are pulling all the way, but folks still say you "stop pulling before the wakes", it could be something I learned: The earlier you pull/lean really hard, the earlier you can get pulled back up over the ski. Learn to lean VERY, VERY progressively (i.e. a lot slower than you think), especially into your gate. This gives the ski time to set angle and keeps you from falling back on the tail. For a 30mph and 15-off skier the progression is FAR slower than you imagine, and seems WAY slower than any pro video (even Seth Stisher's 15-off vids). It helps me to think of the rope a bit like a bungee cord: It's going to pull back sooner or later. The harder/quicker you slam down into the lean, the faster/earlier it snaps you back up and over onto a flat ski. If you're extra tall and light this is even more true.
  10. @OB Still - at only 1 foot long, I can't even imagine how hard a deep water start will be. 8-)
  11. My ski partner just bought a pair of SeaSpecs http://www.seaspecs.com/ I think they were recommended by folks at Coble Ski School. He loves them. Info about the prescription version is on this page: http://www.seaspecs.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=47
  12. Oh boy...now we've gone from "grip grommets" to percolated scotch. It's getting worse! AUTOCORRECT is the only winner here. I supposed it's only natural to replace "percocet" with "percolate"... 8-)
  13. I printed them in a laser printer on (plastic) overhead transparency sheets, and then cut carefully. They are still in my ski bag, showing little to no sign of wear after several years.
