  1. Was in same boat as you @quinne (am sure not first to make that pun :# ) and just bought a 2000 SSLXI. So far loving it. Most of my skiing however is behind my father-in-law's 2001 VLX (course on their lake). It has the same Diamond Hull as the LXI, skis great and you get the space of a v drive. I really don't notice much difference in wakes skiing at 34 mph 15/22 off. Point is, if you find a VLX from that era, don't shy away just cuz it's a vdrive and are worried about large slalom wakes. There is a 2001 VLX list on a FB waterski buy and sell in MN I think....
  2. @BlueSki when did Liberia and Burma land on the moon? :D
  3. @braindamage I only get the beeping once up to about 34 mph, if oil sensor wouldn't it beep at all speeds?
  4. Thanks @Ski_Dad great tips. I did lower the hitch some, more level now. Launching and retrieving definitely going to take some practice....indeed I got the bow eye caught on the roller as you mentioned (had to get someone to stand on the back to put bow up). Will keep an eye on how far in I go with the trailer next time out.
  5. What a fun day. For a guy who only skis recreationally, a great format to get out and ski with some great skiers on a proper course (no tide jugs!), behind a brand new Prostar. I had a blast. And definitely appreciated the bottle of Ibuprofen that came with the t-shirt! I'm still hurting! :D
  6. Thanks @6balls , I thought PP at first but stays on....even if PP is off. It's the dash beep (same as when key in). Read similar issues on Malibu forum, replacing knock sensor seems like likely fix.
  7. Well...I didn't buy the Sunsetter in my OP, but finally ended up with one. Picked up this nice 2000 few weeks ago. Finally got in the water yesterday and had a ski. My first ski boat....needless to say, a bit excited! :) A couple of issues I need to sort out on the boat; beep alarm is coming on once up to about 34 mph (hopefully just a sensor), throttle needs an adjustment (new PP) and shower seems to leak a bit. But I'm thrilled with it.
  8. Aren't empty Tide jugs good enough?!?! ?
  9. Thanks @aspski I'm in Ontario actually, but generally find more out there from QC.
  10. Thanks for feedback all. Indeed other options I'm looking at are PS205 and Bu Sunsetter, most of my skiing is currently behind a Sunsetter V (fair slalom wake for a V drive btw). Limited choice up here in my price range....hopefully few more come spring.
  11. Hi folks, any opinions on this boat. Mostly looking for versatile family boat, slalom priority for me but have 3 girls hopefully to get into skiing....no boarders in family, yet at least. https://www.sportmarine.ca/product-page/ski-nautique-206-2004-1 TIA.
  12. This is not a black and white photo, just the month Grey, aka November.
  13. I use charcoal for quicker meals (smokey Joe or whatever works). I like to reverse sear steak on charcoal chimney starter...1 h in oven on low then minute or 2 over charcoal to sear. Pit Barrel Cooker is awesome for ribs, brisket, pork shoulder, etc.
  14. I was about to ask same question, looking to find a ski around Salton Sea area.
  15. @jipster43 I'm looking forward to skiing the Waialua in March! PS....this thread is great, love it. Wish I had more chance to ski some of these.
  16. Thanks @savaiusini !!! Just off the phone with Austin, replacement on it's way!
  17. Thanks all, was indeed a good bail. Sprained front ankle pretty good, no skiing for 2 months. Appreciate any contact at HO. As for question on the reinforcement plate, that was something I noticed afterwards....it wasn't on. :# Found it in the garage afterwards :'( . But I'd skiied on it for 4 years without issue. This happened after first ride after taking the boots off so someone else could try my ski and then putting back on. Prob stressed it a bit and then without the reinforcement plate it just let go. Maybe saved my back ankle.....front, not so much. That Strada plate won't work, appreciate it though. The HO plates have holes cut so the footpad is directly on the ski.
  18. Need some help, the plate on my rear boot sheared on an OTF earlier this summer. The boots are 2012 (I think) HO Attack. I can't get a response from HO to replace the plate and can't find one online. The boot is still fine, I just need the right plate to refit the foot pad and reattach the boot. SZ 7-11.
  19. @torontoboater I'm on big bald lake. Any courses you know of in the area?
  20. Thanks @aspski, not sure how many hours. Dealer won't answer questions by email...wants to show it to me and discuss. Argh. :s :/ :/
  21. Thanks @andjules, too bad I wasn't looking last summer...coulda bought yours! Any other advice looking in Ontario?
