  1. I think I need to just go all in on FAE.  Anyone interested in buying my fancy, expensive, and modified MasterCraft tips?  I paid almost $700 for the pair and can provide receipts.  I cut the through pipes off like DD did so they bolt right up.  I will send you the longer screws, tips, and gaskets on me.  $400 takes them. I just need more reduction than 1db.  I will say they do look amazing on the boat but looks isn't what I am after.

  2. @ReallyGottaSki

    thanks for the input.  I am not sure what mufflers I have.  My boat is stock 2016 ProStar with 6.2L.  I did at the ‘18 bent down tips from MasterCraft

    do you kind describing the cuts you mentioned?

    @Mastercrafter

    i will get some pics of the internals next time I am at the lake.

    From the dock it sounded different and maybe less drawn out as the boat moved further away versus the stock ends.

  3. Well based on my dismal results with the MasterCraft tips my neighbor with an 09 197 ordered the FAE. He learns from my pain but his boat is really load.  Something about that model year 197.

    Anyways I am trying to figure out additional solutions for improvement with what I have.  Since I have the tips what do you guys think about adding some additional length with  rubber/silicone pieces like this?   Just hose clamp them in and cut to the length at the water line at plane?  Maybe cut slots in them to relieve forces on the tips?

    Thanks for the input - Eric

  4. Alright guys.  I finally was able to do a test with stock Prostar with just the flapper and the turned down tips.  I also included my ski buddies 205 in the test.  I only achieved 1db reduction. Essentially hardly noticeable.  I did a pass by as this is what my neighbors will hear and recorded the dbs on an app.  Pretty expensive for 1db but it looks cool on the lift now.  Ugh

  5. This is cool.  I have the 6.2L in my '16 and it is crazy powerful.  This supercharged version would be fun to drive but much like the regular 6.2 overkill for skiing. I only got mine with this engine because I was worried about long line barefoot application.

    I have done it.  Order the filters, gasket, and new screws in a kit from MasterCraft.  You need to remove all the lines so you can pull the assembly out of your tank to service the filters.  To remove the fuel line get a set of those plastic fuel line disconnect tools at any auto parts store.  Something like this https://www.northerntool.com/products/lisle-a-c-fuel-line-disconnect-tool-model-37000-112583?cm_mmc=Google-LIA&utm_source=Google_LIA&utm_medium=Automotive > Automotive Repair Tools > Specialty Tools&utm_campaign=Lisle&utm_content=112583&ogmap=SHP|LIA|GOOG|STND|c|SITEWIDE|||||856744486|42214677983&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7Nuk2ajigwMVJg-tBh2OcAobEAQYASABEgKS8vD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

  7. The O'Neil Hyperfreak has been one of my favorites.  Love the ease of getting in and out, front zip, mobility for skiing, and the feel of that new neoprene is really nice.  Durability has been good and in my experience they will repair their suits if you have issues.

  8. I agree with Jordan and BSBELL and DW

    I am a heavier skier and for me as I am getting up I stay tucked longer than most to the point that I can feel the tail of the ski on my butt.  This technique also helps me with different drivers and some that might just "hit it"  This can crush bigger skiers

    Driver technique is critical for bigger skiers.  We need to go slow and progressive on the out.  This is counterintuitive.  "big guy, go hard" NO!

  9. When asked by my dealer when we are ready for our next new boat I told him "When they offer a heated steering wheel and self driving with inputs via GPS + a Vision system".  I love course skiing but I started so late in life and will never go to a tournament.  That doesn't mean I don't have goals and aspire to get better.  I want to eliminate as many variables possible.  My wife is a great driver and always available but most of the times I ski with buddies on the lake.  When I train with my wife as a driver I am nervous about running up into my more challenging passes.  This solution doesn't solve everything for me but it is exciting to see progress and innovation to address this problem.  I am all in and will pay for it integrated from the OEs
