  1. Following as I'm interested to see what others have created. We spin at each end of our club lake (1,700' per Google Earth) and after 3-4 passes have rollers down the lake.

My assumption is you shouldn't have rollers if you can follow and "ideal boat path" into the course. My assumption of an "ideal boat path" consists of the boat pulling the skier out of the water running parallel to the course in the opposite direction then makes a tight turn until aligned with the course and straight into the 55's.

South end of our lake allows for an "ideal boat path" with the boat starting parallel to the course, making a tight turn and driving straight into the 55's. This side doesn't seem to be the issue.

The shoreline on the North end cuts into the boat path on the not allowing for the "ideal boat path" before the 55's. Driver starts with bow pointed slightly away from the course, makes a tight turn and then follows the shoreline before aligning with the 55's. I'd venture to guess this is our issue.

I vaguely remember having seen a floating turn island on the north end of this lake when I was really young. Seemed to be like a few dock floats with plywood hanging off the sides allowing wakes to dissipate before running down the lake.

  2. Sending out well wishes to those affected by the hurricane.

Jody just posted a video on Florida Inboards facebook page and it doesn't look good.

@Jody_Seal - Speaking for the entire water ski community. I know it's a long shot but let us know if we can do anything to help.

  3. @Wish No modifications to the actual engine cover itself. Just added a carpet covered wood shim under the engine cover. Total height of the shim with carpet is roughly 3" which still clears the pylon well.

@Gloersen - to my knowledge it wasn't required by the state and I'd be surprised if anyone here would even know to check. Tim at Inboard Solutions packaged everything for us and suggested the CATs.

@shansen345 @jhughes & @escmanaze - Thanks fellas! We absolutely love this rig and plan to keep it in the family for a long time!

  4. I've shared this before but here's our reverse gel 01SN now powered with a 409, 80A transmission and ZO. It's a perfect fit for our short setups.

We've only seen a handful of reverse gel SN's in this era and one other in the same combination. Purchased the boat a few years back with 250 hours on the GT-40 which will be re-purposed for another project.

Complete rig with tandem axle Ram-Lin trailer.

  5. Lots of serious flooding on public water and it's not going to get any better for a few weeks. Most of the private/club sites with courses are fine.

I'm out of town July 5-14 but available any time after. There's a few other sites to ski. Shoot me a PM if you want contact info.

  6. We booked Aerosmith for a corporate gig a few years back. Steven noticed my dad's Ski Nautique sunglasses holder right away when talking before the show. He was more interested in talking boats and skiing than that night's performance. It was refreshing to have a down to earth conversation with such a high profile personality.
  7. @Creeker - Congrats and a job well done! This is a great problem for all of us to envy.

All the hours on and off the water together with your ski buddy not only create a special bond between father and son, but also breathe life into the sport we all love. My fondest memories as a kid are hanging out in the boat, skiing with my dad and brother. Hopefully your son will pass along the love of the sport to as many of his classmates as possible.

The cycle begins again but there's gotta be a new water skier hiding somewhere in your neck of the woods. Give them an opportunity to get out on the water, teach them to love the challenge and develop the next chapter of the sport.

One of my best ski buddies was mowing his yard on a 100+ degree day when I stopped to ask if he wanted to go for a boat ride. A year later and we're skiing 4 days a week at 6AM and qualifying for regionals!

Enjoy the process. My guess is your place will be flooded with 3-event skiers after graduation!
