  1. Last year I did a poor job of winterization, or my heater core was doomed to fail after 5 years or so. Regardless, I want to replace it. Has anyone done it recently? I was able to access the unit by removing the panel (four screws), and remove the air hoses (that had water in them) but was not able to remove the unit. Do I take it out of the housing? Or unscrew it from the side of the boat. It seems difficult to remove the water intake/outtake hoses as they are on the foreword part of the unit without removing the unit from the transom.
  2. As a Safety official for USAW, I received this today: On April 1, 2021, the U.S. Coast Guard implemented a new law requiring boaters who operate recreational vessels 26-feet long and under, including water ski and wake boats, to require the use of an Engine Cut-Off Switch (ECOS). The engine cut-off switch link attaches the driver to the switch that shuts the engine off. This will turn off the motor if the operator falls overboard or is a certain distance from the wheel. Wireless engine cut-off switches have also been approved for use. Prior to any USA Water Ski & Wake Sports (USA-WSWS) sanctioned event, organizers should consult USA-WSWS safety program resources at https://www.teamusa.org/USA-Water-Ski/Safety-Program-Resources, including the USA-WSWS Safety Manual regarding adhering to all State/Federal Boating Regulations: Rule 3: At the option of the sponsoring club, the Safety Director shall see that all competing clubs or participants conform to all state and/or federal boating regulations prior to the start of their event, including the following: Ensure that the requirement of meeting all applicable boating laws was made in the tournament announcement; and Ensure that all competing clubs from a state other than the state the competition is to be held in shall have been sent a copy of such laws. The tournament host is responsible for adherence to state law and may delegate the oversight of the engine cutoff switch requirement to the event Safety Director. Drivers are also responsible for following all state and federal laws, as they are the ones operating the boat during the event. Boaters are encouraged to check the U.S. Coast Guard website at https://uscgboating.org/recreational-boaters/engine-cut-off-devices.php for additional information on this new use requirement and other safety regulations and recommendations.
  3. Does anyone know about this new USCG law? Does it apply to private waters? Will anyone comply? https://www.boatingmag.com/story/how-to/new-boating-law-requires-use-of-engine-cut-off-switches/?utm_source=internal&utm_medium=email&tp=i-1NGB-Et-Tyg-1IHQPA-1c-59iQ-1c-1IHWZ3-l5rSRiTvue-peoLx
  4. I was able to install a 90 pound gas spring purchased from Lift Springs Depot and it worked. Thus the 80 pound is inadequate. Mystery solved.
  5. I replaced the gas spring on the observers' seat on my 2016 Nautique 200 with a factory replacement Master-Lift ML36-80, an easy install, but it also failed to hold up the seat. I informed the fine folks at Nautiqueparts.com who sent me a replacement as perhaps I got a lemon. However, replacement unit also failed to hold up the seat. They are working on it again, and were to speak with the factory. There is nothing wrong with the seat, it is not waterlogged or otherwise damaged. Has anyone had this problem? Should I go to something heavier than 80 pounds?
  6. Since the swim platform on my 2016 SN200OB is unprotected from the sun, the gelcoat started to fade, ie oxidize. So has the Seadeck, but that is not my main concern. The rest of the boat is fine. Who has a effective way to restore the shine on my gelcoat this off season? I am going to modify my cover to protect it from the sun next year. I saw a thread on BoS from 2012, but wonder what is new under the sun regarding gelcoat restoration techniques and products.
  7. Zman, Kelvin and UWskier: thanks for the advice. It worked! Found the part at NoWake in Cincy (thanks Eric,Craig, Ryan, Zach et al). Easy install as described. ??!
  8. I think that’s what I am looking at too. I’ll let you know how it goes. Thx
  9. Found one device up front, unhooked it, hooked it back, but no change Is it s DIY job? I do all my own maintenance
  10. Where is the crank position sensor, is it forward on the flywheel?
  11. We finished a set on our lake a couple of days ago, then went to idle home, and my 2016 200 OB would not start. It had plenty of battery, but was low on gas. I filled it up today with fresh high octane gas, but got the same response from the engine: It turned over but never fired. I got this error: DTC 337 Crank Signal loss. It has been running perfectly all spring. Battery 12V. Heading for a big lake weekend tomorrow 7-3-2019, who can help me?
  12. ...you try to pee before you ski and nothing happens...
  13. Does anyone have any current advice for a 2016 SN EX3 5.7 tranny fluid change?
  14. My daughter crashed at 26 MPH and injured her ankle, I believe it's because the Wiley binding did not release because it is too tight. I have crashed a few times on mine and they do release if bad enough. Does anyone know how to loosen the binding? Is it an issue of punching new holes in the wrap, or will that weaken the binding too much?
  15. Mine hasn’t crashed hard like it did last year, but every once in a while, it does not boot up properly. In those cases, I have it do a true boot down and then another boot up. I wonder if it because some people just turn off the battery switch after usage, without doing a proper boot down........
  16. Does the jump cable come with a factory installed ZO system on new comp boats? I bought a 2016 OB and it did not come with one, but I did not specifically ask for one.
  17. Does anyone have experience using a harmonic prop pulling tool, AKA a prop knocker, instead of the C-clamp style? I have a spare prop now, and may have to change it (never or rarely.) The youtube videos seem to indicate the harmonics work, but some reviews are skeptical. Is it worth just buying the C-clamp for 2-3X cost?
  18. Does anyone have a thought of using a Acme 442 vs the factory installed Acme 654? The 442 has a 15.5 pitch, and the 654 has a 15 pitch, otherwise the specs are the same. We use the boat primarily for slalom.
  19. So have you skied it yet? Does anyone know if the '17 is different from the '16 Vapor Lithium?
  20. I followed Jody's instructions, and the process went perfectly. It did not take 4 minutes, but next time it will. I was surprised to discover the wear on the impeller that had only 85 hours. We skied today, and there were no engine explosions. :) Thanks for the help
