  1. Thanks @skiinxs for the info. The spacer is between the prop and the strut and seems like it's made of plastic, but I'm not 100% sure about that. One of the guys I was with seemed to think it was a bushing and was suppose to be inside the strut (?). I will be up at the lake tomorrow, I will take a photo when I get by there. Thanks.
  2. I damaged my prop today, I have a spare from another boat that I used to own, but it's a three blade instead of the four blade that is on the boat now. My boat is a Centurion Carbon Pro with the 5.7 PCM engine. I have to find a prop puller before I can take the old one off, all I know is it's 13" diameter (measured), four blade, left rotating. The spare I have is an Acme 13" x 12, three blade, left turning. Any issues with swapping that out that anyone knows of? I'm guessing it would take a week or more to get the original fixed, so the swap would be temporary. Also, just ahead of the prop is what appears to be a 1" spacer that is broken, it goes about 2/3 of the way around the shaft, the other 1/3 is broken off. I have no idea if that happened today or if it was already like that, nor do I know what it is for and if it's critical. I'm trying to get back on the water without having to wait until next week when the marine shops are open. Any help is appreciated.
  3. I just bought both the nav light and stern light from Wholesale Marine, should have them in a few days. Both work off batteries and have suction cups, so no drilling, wiring, etc., just need to keep 8 AA batteries in the boat for backup. I'll let you know how they look/work once I get them. I know I will rarely if ever need them, but for $19.95 each, it's nice to at least have a set in case I do.
  4. Just looked at that option @storm34 mentioned, Wholesale Marine has a battery powered nav light with suction cup mount for $19.97, perfect for the Carbon Pro.
  5. I was amazed to discover our Carbon Pro didn't have them either and would love to find an after market product that worked off batteries or had a cigarette lighter plug. I'm not really interested in drilling holes in my boat either for the one time a year I might need these lights.
  6. Don't know the names of all of them, but I think there is one in north Raleigh, right off Capital Blvd, you can see if from the road (Gresham Lake maybe?), there is a very nice site in Smithfield, NC, and of course there's Coble's Ski School in Lillington. All these are within 45 mins of RTP. Also, there is a slalom course on public water in Roxboro, NC, Hyco Lake, not too far.
  7. I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a new 2016 Carbon V. It was the safer bet since I'm already use to the regular V and have never skied on any of the HO skis. I have a local HO dealer that might have the CX and TX in stock this summer and I can demo them, but for now, I'm locked in and ready for some warm weather!
  8. I'm trying to decide on a new ski, I use the regular V now and want to upgrade. I run 15 off 32 mph and would love to run 34/15 and maybe get into 22 this season. I realize the V I have is a much better ski than I am a skier, but I have the hots for a new ski and I'm going to get one! I was all set to get a new Carbon V then started looking at these crossover skis from HO. They are designed for less drag which means less fatigue which is why I started using the V in the first place. I'm 59, 175 lbs. I also looked at the TX which is a wide ride, but I called HO and they said the CX was .3" wider than their regular skis and the TX is .5" wider, so I'm guessing I'd rather compare the Carbon V to the CX. Any insight on which ski might work better? Unfortunately the only way for me to try either one is to buy it..
  9. A new Connelly Carbon V, 67". Can't seem to find a good used one or new 2016 model, but I keep looking...
  10. I called Connelly and answered my own question for anybody that's interested. The 2016 model is when they changed from 70/30 to 50/50.
  11. I'm looking to buy a used Carbon V, any idea when they changed that mix? I already have a V and if I'm going to try the Carbon version, I don't want "meh"! Thanks.
  12. Is that a 2016 model? I have the regular V and been thinking about getting one of these. I'm a 15 off 32 mph skier.
  13. I just sold my son's 2016 blank V-Type R. Started at $675 and kept dropping the price until I finally sold it for $450 plus shipping. There just wasn't much interest until I got down to that price. I don't know what the boots are worth, but I would say you are at least $200 on the high side.
  14. Thanks for the insight, based on what I'm hearing, I think I'll just keep what I have and save the $. Even though $575 is a great deal, that's still a lot of money for a marginal improvement at best. Thanks.
  15. I switched from the Prophecy to the V about 3-4 years ago, because the V was slightly wider and it got me up quicker and was less taxing on my body so I could run more passes with less fatigue. My son (who is a much better skier than me) is telling me the Carbon V would have the same effect compared to the classic V because it's lighter. That is the main reason for my interest. Any comments on that idea? Anything to get me up quicker and create less fatigue is important to me at my age (59).
  16. Anybody have any experience with A/B comparison between the regular V and the Carbon V? I wonder how much difference I'm really going to notice. I'm a 15 off 32 mph skier, trying to get a little better.
  17. I think I might get that one. Anybody have any experience with A/B comparison between the regular V and the Carbon V? I wonder how much difference I'm really going to notice. I'm a 15 off 32 mph skier, trying to get a little better.
  18. I have the V now, and want to try the Carbon V, 67". Anyone got one they want to sell? I would be glad to buy one that's a couple of years old at a good price, there are a few new ones around that are 2016 models but everyone wants $700 or more which is way more than I want to invest.
  19. Anybody got a good workout routine for the off season that seems to be beneficial for slalom skiers? I usually don't do much in the winter and it takes me most of the ski season to get back in shape to run more than one set. It's usually too cold here in Ky to do much outside until March and I have plenty of gym equipment (Nautilus NS300 weight machine, treadmill, recumbent bike, elliptical machine), I just don't know the best routine to keep me in decent slalom shape.
  20. Is there some place I can buy one of these or do I have to make it?
  21. That's what I'm going to do as soon as I can find RV antifreeze without Ethanol. I looked at several auto parts stores and Walmart last night with no luck. I bet most people are using the same stuff I did and don't realize it. I found some last night at Auto Zone that had ethanol but did not contain the warning. That guy told me everybody was buying that to winterize their boats. I'll leave what's in there until I find the good stuff.
  22. Winterized my boat using Camco Arctic Ban -50. It is pink RV/Marine antifreeze that I bought at Advance Auto. After finishing everything (ofcourse), I noticed a warning on the label that says "not for use in automotive radiators or boat engines". I called Camco and they told me this product contains Ethanol and eats away at rubber and is also combustible and should not be used for boat engines. They have a product called Freeze Ban -50 that does not contain Ethanol. I just thought I would pass this along to anyone who like me just bought pink RV antifreeze and didn't think any more about it. I suspect many brands also contain ethanol and it's stated on the label, so now I have to find some that is ethanol free, whether it's Camco or some other brand. Now to winterize all over again.....
  23. Bought a 2012 CP in August and LOVE the ballast. I cannot imagine using something manual when you have this convenience. The best way to know when it's level is to turn it on when the skier is in the water, they visually tell you when the platform is level. After a few times, you will know about where to fill it up and you can make minor adjustments in either direction in a few seconds with the press of a button. Also- we only fill ours up about 30-35% and it compensates for me while driving and I'm 180 lbs. I can't believe the "big 3" didn't think of this years ago...
