@A_B Some great points. As a free skier that rarely gets in the course, becoming an AWSA member, for me and most that I know, has no benefit other than "helping grow the sport." If there were some incentive like access to private course bearing water, I'd definitely join.

Attach some shower suction cups to the other side. As long as its a trapezoid shape it shouldn't come into the dock

my '88 has one nut, so we've got it narrowed down to 30 years!

Mooring whips, or possibly anchor away from dock and run 2 lines (bow eye and stern eye) to keep boat away along with tying the boat off from the dock.

 

As @Jmoski said, nosing the boat out towards the traffic will help as well.

My routine is this: Front binding, gloves, back binding, handle on the back of the boat to lean against to limit embarrassing wobbles before an ungraceful water entry.

@BraceMaker come to think of it, that is how he puts it on too. It's me that goes front foot in first. So, I'm not sure why he only did the back

@wettek69 Front boot goes on first, the handle helps when movement is restricted from the front boot being on.

Very interesting. Looks like the larger model is for heavy boat traffic and the smaller is for wind? If it's ski boat traffic, I bet the smaller model would limit the waves, especially on the bounce back.

Not having a handle on the back of the binding makes entry more difficult too. A couple buddies sewed on handles to eliminate this and are very pleased with the results.

"Yeah, it's a sweet ski, but your wife's shorts and matching hair tie are the difference make on that last set"

Hi, I'm Brant Loewe (Lavy) from Nebraska. I grew up a weekend skier behind a 1978 Mark Twain and we spent a lot of time at Table Rock Lake each summer. I am a PE/ Weights Instructor at a local high school. The 3 best reasons to become a teacher are June, July, and August.

I currently own a 1988 Mastercraft 190 that I put in on Carter Lake Iowa with my 3 kids and wife. My oldest daughter finally slalomed this past summer and the 6 year old will be on 2 this summer. I primarily free ski on a private lake with a small group of buddies. I've been in the course a handful of times (not enough to complete a pass) and I love everything waterski I can read, listen, or watch.

I'm very interested in getting more people skiing and ready to make the jump from free skiing to course skiing and getting more access on public water for people to "test the waters" of skiing the course.

@RichardDoane that’s assuming they’ve had course experience or access to a course. The grassroots effort I think is a great way to get course skiers to experience tournament skiing, but what is being done for free skiers with no access to a course, or no mini course to initiate improvement, to start swerving with intention?

@Broussard, I never thought about the extra buoys muddling up the jump course.

 

@Rednucleus that’s my thought, the ability to get a full pass in knowing that you can get 1/2 buoys along with a couple full buoys allows you to keep pushing where just having a regular course means your pass is over.
