  1. Collegiate, barefoot, adaptive skiing have cancelled . "bECAUSE THE HEALTH & SAFETY OF THEIR ATHLETES" ARE MOST IMPORTANT.
  2. 15 DAYS TILL THE START OF NATIONALS AND 284 SKIERS SIGNED UP . AWSA MUST BE REALLY DESPERATE FOR MONEY
  3. If you send me your cell number I'll text you back photos of a couple of plates I have that might work. 765 610 7552 plus they are free
  4. Wow, the Barefoot Nationals just got cancelled
  5. My thoughts picking a later date is hopefully things will settle down and travel plans won't be so up in the air. After all if you fly you go into New Orleans or Baton Rouge. And hopefully you can fly back home without going into quarantine. No one know for sure how long different restrictions will last. My last comment is: why has our president cancelled events at his lake?
  6. Why not postpone the Nationals till later in September or October. Being in Zachary the weather would still be nice, and most other regions may have some cooler practice but it would be do able. Most of the kids may be still getting home schooled. No one had a problem skiing the Sr. worlds at Jacks in October. Do you think AWSA wants to be responsible for people getting the virus. They seem concerned about the pros, show skiers, and the college kids.
  7. Almost all events are getting postponed or cancelled, what about the Nationals being in a hot spot like Zachary in a month? Some skiers may not even be able to go. It's hard to make travel plans not knowing what states might make new restrictions on any given day. Plus is it safe to go? Why don't they postpone till later? It doesn't look like kids will be back in school!!!!
  8. Check out the Indiana Water Ski FB page. On Monday evenings we host a Monday night ski league (open to any level skier). It's at different sites in Indiana, and it's a chance to get meet more skiers and get in a set or 2 of coaching, to take home and work on. Tonight Kokomo Ski Club is hosting the event. All you do is show up with your ski and vest.
  9. If a skier is already qualified to ski Nationals (except skiing in Regionals) why not treat them just like an open skier? They don't have to ski Regionals. But, I still like the idea of pay entry fee to clubs who are hosting the Regionals. State tournament are not a requirement to ski in Regionals or Nationals unless a skier needs to qualify for Regionals by placement in state tournament. By letting qualified skier skip Regionals it would help some skier qualify for Nationals by placement in Regionals.
  10. For Jeff, now that the Nationals have been decided has there been any more discussions about REGIONALS. MW is going to be a little tough going to Center City and turning around and going to Zachary. One Official told me last night that he'll go to Zachary as a safety official and not ski because doing regionals and Nationals is just too hard. Most of the older skiers aren't thinking about flying (even though it's cheap) because of the risk involved.
  11. The thing about hosting Regionals is Classification Requirements for the Officials and also the site. In the awsa rule book on page119 has all the requirements. When doing a record E,L or R all the appointed officials have to be seniors. And event judges have to be reg & Senior. just look at everything that has to be done on site to the bouys, towers, courses certifications. This is what makes Regionals a big deal for the host club. And if they have regionals then I just feel like skiers who pass should pay the entry fee. Also these people are giving up there lake, to have the site ready for record tournament.
  12. To be fair to clubs that are hosting Regionals if a skier can skip Regionals and still ski Nationals then I feel like they should have to pay their Regional entry fee. These clubs go to a lot of expense to host a Regionals. Another thought would be keep Regionals on the same dates that are scheduled but move the Nationals into September. Almost all skiers are going to have short seasons and that would give more time to be ready to ski Nationals.
  13. the sites are good. But, if you are a family having the different weekends and different sites would be pretty tough, with the Jrs being in Ark and the older being at Cory's. Lot of travel time.
  14. At our lake which we ski into the bank at each end we have winches screwed in at each end with an auger. Then we run our cable (close to the bank thru an eye bolt that is attched to a metal car wheel) then it goes out to the end of pre gates. We have had this system for about 10 years and if the cable ever breaks (1 time) both ends are attached to either the winch or the course about an hour fix. It takes a lot of cable but it is worth the price to have a super tight course .
  15. IWWF Rule Proposed 2019 (minutes) #13 USA rule #10.04 slalom ropes: The colors must be clearly visible & clearly distinguishable.
  16. Girls and women ski at 34 mph till they reach W5 almost 40 years. Boys and men ski 36 for 22 years till they drop back to 34 in Men 3. Does 40 years seem like a long?
  17. Go figure this out on Wed. they did not qualify for the American Cup. Skied open on Wednesday and they skied OM Division, with score of 110. (open) Then on Saturday back to M1 division? So what were the exceptions to the rules that BOD made? Things like rules exceptions should be made public at the tournament site for AWSA members to know what is going on and keep everything above board.
  18. To EricKelly, What did the American Cup have to do with allowing the elite to ski in age division on Saturday, Open and the American Cup were on Wednesday.
  19. My theory on this are they are staying in their age division because that's where the competiton is if they just want to win medals than MM Overall usually only has 1 or 2 skiers but age division might have 20 or more.
  20. agree with Horton, skiing is about competition against skiers in age division, but as I stated in my history lesson in 1973 they came out with OM & OW and it's worked for years there was no age restrictions but the skier had to qualify for their events and if they couldn't make it in open they could ski in their age division, but scores didn't carry over and it just meant they didn't ski over-all. But, they were proud to ski in open. It just seems like the truly open skiers should want to ski in open at Nationals, this is where they all got there start.
  21. History Lesson: Until 1973 everyone skied in age divisions, no one complained about skiing in events against the best skiers in the country, it made for true competition of course everyone didn't go home with medals. Then came open men & open women these were actually exciting events to watch (the qualifications to ski in open were high so a skier had to be a LaPoint, Liz Allen not just anyone who wanted to ski open) and that was a goal a lot of people had was to ski against the best, even if they were at the bottom. Then 30 years later came MM slalom, it was good but it took a lot of excitement away from age division. Then 2009 MM 3 event then MW. These events are for just a few people to win medals. Skiing is about competition and most skiers are staying in their age division because of the competition. I don't remember hearing a skier said they would rather not ski then ski against the best in their age division. Think we should bring true competition to the sport and make it interesting and fun to watch.
  22. No they weren't trying to qualify for the American Cup. They were sking open men's overall and the rule for that is 3.03 F (4) when skiing for placement such as reg. and Nationals , may ski in Elite for placement. and must ski a second time in age division event for overall score purposes only, if desiring to compete for Overall placement.
