22 off isn't terrible behind the Outback. I have a buddy with one. I bought an RLX and we do not use the Outback anymore. Unfortunately, the wake is just pretty stiff behind Moombas.

@MopedMedicks I was really careful to not take too much off. I used a 2000 grit and then went to a 2500 grit. This was my first time wet-sanding the boat. Like what @UWSkier said I used a da polisher with the different pads per compound afterwards. I don’t think that there was much taken off of the gel coat.

@UWSkier no, they most certainly do not. My buddy’s fell off his supra while his wife was surfing. We got it, but it was hilarious.

So some of my decals were getting pretty old and starting to fall of. I decided to replace them.

 

Took off the old decals, wet sanded the area, finished up with the 3M 3-step rubbing compound and polish. Pretty happy with how it turned out.

 

The decals from Domed Numbers we a little smaller than the originals, just a heads up if you plan on doing this.

As dumb as it sounds for a finger, go to a physio, or buy one of those finger web things. I dislocated mine and sprained the living daylights out of others a while back. Fingers take forever to heal so whatever you can do to speed up the process, do it.

Thanks @Ski_Dad. Definitely not the sending unit. Went through all he usual stuff, replaced the sending unit, checked the voltage etc. Finally plugged my buddies gauge into mine and it worked fine. The gauge is definitely the issue.

Does anyone have an extra on of these lying around by any chance? Would rather not shell out $300 just for the fuel gauge. Everything else works on it just fine.

 

@Deke this is why I have friends with gigantic surf tractors ha ha. Ski my RLx in the morning, and surf theirs in the afternoon.

Was it maybe an excuse to purchase a new ski? Ha ha ha. Either way, it looks repairable.

They do help for sure. We have found on boats with a shallow hull, sometimes it is tough to find a spot to put it. I would recommend not buying one, and making your own. L brackets, suction cups, stainless hardware, and a plastic cutting board. That way you can taylor the shape to your boat, plus it’s about $250 cheaper. At least to start.

I haven’t skied very many different skis, but my old Concept never let me down.

 

I like the way that my 2000 RLx handles better than our clubs 2007 196. The 196 wake seems a little smaller and softer though. @jpattigr would have some good insights as I believe he skied both regularly.

So, I was able to hit 6 balls (no gate) for the first time @15 off, 30MPH. My question now is what order of progression would you work in? I’m not a competition skier, and don’t plan to be.

 

What order do you change the variables now? Should I work on the gate first? Do I shorten the line? Do I increase the speed? Keeping in mind that this is all for fun, but I’m a competitive type-A who likes to have data and objective measurements. :D
