  1. I don’t exactly have a grand to drop on a ski right now. I might have to hit some buddies up that might be selling some. I had a baby less than a year ago and paying for daycare is breaking the bank.
  2. I purchased a 69 inch senate 3 years ago. When I bought it I weighed 210 pounds and I am 6'2 so it was a good choice at the time I was also barely running the course at 30 MPH. Now I'm still on the same ski dropped down to 197 with the intentions of getting down to 190 ish and running 34 mph at 22 off and picking up a few at 28 off. Is it time to me to go to upgrade to a smaller newer ski like a 68 vapor or something? how big of a difference can it make?
  3. nice I had basically decided that I was going to. I am going to get a nose plug on my way out to the lake I just didn't want to do it and fine out it was a really dumb things to do.
  4. I had my nose cauterized yesterday’s because I was getting some bloody noses. They started on Sunday after I skied our state games and worked outside most of the day. Anyway I got that one under control and the next day got another I later went to the gym and it started again so I went to urgent care and they cauterized it. The doctor was basically worthless at telling me how to treat it after the little procedure. My only shot at getting to ski this week is tonight and I would like to go I just had my best tournament performance on Sunday and I want to keep on practicing. Any opinions? I googled some stuff sounds like the recommendations are 10 days, found some other stuff from weight lifters that said they just didn’t lift hard for a few days. I thought I could just ski a set and take a nice break in between.
  5. Yeah What I am looking for is a good ski boat that has an open bow at a reasonable price so me and the wife can reach a compromise. I will usually just be skiing the course so what I really care about is having a good boat with good tracking and a soft wake. Unfortunately my wife is insisting that we need to have an open bow for the two times out of the year she will want to go to public lake with some friends. I think I will keep the sportster, and the sunsetters in mind. In my perfect world though I would like to still get a response or a prostar though mainly because that is all I have skied behind so I am biased. Thanks for all your help guys.
  6. I have skied behind some Malibu responses from the mid nineties and newer and love them, but I was wondering why when it comes to buying a boat are the responses so much more than the sportster. My wife loves the idea of getting a sportster because it appears they usually have an open bow, but why are they so much cheaper. I can find a lot of them with relatively low hours for ten to fifteen thousand.
  7. awesome everyone I appreciate the all the input.
  8. I ski behind my friends 95 prostar 205 a couple times a week and love it, but I would really like to get my own boat next year on a budget. My cousin has a 1988 prostar 190 that I can snag for $6000 will I notice a big change in the boat? I guess I am looking for peoples blessing on not going with the 91-95 to avoid getting into that $9000 and up price tags that come along with them. Do I have to run magnets for speed control on a boat that old too I guess is my other question? thanks any input appreciated.
  9. I was pretty similar to you started skiing at 26 on an entry level Obrien world class. I purchased a Radar senate the following year and went from barely making it through the course to always running it. I now run 34 on a good day, and can pick up a few at 36mph, I recommend radars mid level skis for you scenario. this is my second season with it now and we have had some good times, but next year I think I will upgrade to a high end ski. If I can stash the money away without my wife knowing he he.
  10. Thanks for all of your input guys. I am going to verify that it is version nine. I just assumed since he purchased it this spring that it would have been the newest version I could be wrong.
  11. Oh I see. yeah its not the biggest lake but I have skied on smaller, and other boats that have it do not seem to have any issues.
  12. Thanks for your help guys. I just really want to get it figured out so I can see how I am skiing for the next tournament. that linkage test looks promising because that is exactly what it is doing. it continues to go faster after it beeps and then it will abruptly slow down.
  13. I will try the linkage test thank you that is a good place to start, I know we enter the weights in because we are at the max at 210 pounds.
