  1. @ColeGiacopuzzi My season is off to a slow start .  Im still doing my early season 4 pass sets to get pack in shape.  I tried the Lt 55/1 ball pull out today and gave me a great starting point.   It was windy so I'll have to play around with how long to pull, but this definitely put me closer to the consistency I needed.  Cant wait to dig into this deeper.

@thager Yeah the definitions are becoming fuzzy.

Long/Deep us something like below. 2.480 is not very shallow and 6.963 is long. It is a big fin and feels great on the 24 Vapor.

    • 30 1/8th (Vapor boot)
    • 9
    • 2.480
    • 6.953
    • .752

@Horton How would you tweak these numbers for a 66 ?

  3. You don’t need a Radar dealer.  You can find directions on line.  I thought they come with the boot but maybe not.   Worse case just call Radar direct or look up intuition liners.  I believe its only like 5 minutes or so at a time at 200F.  Toss in it the oven.  Easy.  When you take it out put like 2 pairs of socks on and then put the boot on.  You don’t have to go nuts with tightening.  Just want a good fit.    The bungie is pulled up then x’d before going around the hooks again.  You’ll figure it out.  The Velcro strap is an option if you think the cuff gets too loose.  I believe you’d only want to use it if using the reflex release system.  It tightens things up so the mechanism works properly.  You do NOT want to run the boot loose if using a release.  You will hyper extend too far forward and possibly not release at all…..your Achilles’ tendon will not be happy.  Ask me how I know,….I watched it happen.   If bolting to the plate run it how you want and fit for an OTF.   Probably goes without saying but you only heat the liner.  These aren’t ski boots so don’t put your hard shell in the oven…only liner.   That may sound dumb but again it happens .  Plenty of resource or people with knowledge so always ask it not sure.  No stupid question…..well most of the time ,  but I’m sure you’ll get stupid answers too lol.

enjoy that boot.  You’ll love it once fitted and broken in.

  4. Yes and no.  You can mount the Vapor boot on a reflex plate with the Reflex release.   You’ll have to play around with the hole pattern to get a snug fit.   I seem to remember the reflex fitting even sized boots and the Vapor plate fitting odd sized boots better?  Might want to check on that.
The other issue that some have with mounting the Vapor boot to the reflex plate is cant or angle.   Due to the shape of the Vapor boot toe it will point a few degrees outward and not align your foot on centerline.   I believe it was a left boot would point left and right boot points right.    The first gen Vapor plate did the same thing.   Radar came out with a second gen Vapor plate that fixed the problem.   The new plate has 2 rows of holes for the reflex toe bar now.   Just mount in the correct holes for either right or left and boot is straight along centerline.     If you order off the radar site I would call to be sure you are getting the correct plate.   The one pictured on the website is the old plate .
Hope this helps.  If you dig around there are a couple old threads on this topic.

  5. Those are the stock Short/Deep numbers for a 68 that @ColeGiacopuzzi gave you.  I’m trying both stock S/D and L/S on my 66 and playing with boot placement.   I’m also running the Radar Vapor Carbon plate with a Mikro-just.  On the 2024 I have found the same issue setting Bf.   I can set 29 1/4 for S/D and 29 1/2 for L/S.  At 29 1/2 I’m at exactly the forward limit of the plate, pushed all the way forward.  And 29 1/4 I’m at the aft limit due to screws rubbing the release mechanism mounts.  Didn’t have this issue on my 2023.   Luckily I’m fine between those 2 setting.  Actually been running smack in the middle at 29 3/8s as @ColeGiacopuzzi suggested to me.
Using the small stainless round screws from reflex helps for mounting.  There is a notch cut out of the bottom of the reflex release mounts that allows the screws to slide under.   Just have to screw then down most of the way , then slide the plate where you want , then tighten down the rest of the way.
I do wish the radar Vapor plate was thinner though.  It’s thicker and feels substantially beefier (stiffer) than the reflex plate and when tightened down I feel like it could be inhibiting the flex of the ski?  @ColeGiacopuzzi or @brooks any feed back or validation on this topic?

  6. I notice that as well.   I think it falls along the lines of “you marry your bindings , you date your ski.”  I’ve seen tons of skiers switch skies on a regular basis while still using their tried and true old school duct taped, bolted , glued, zip tied bindings.   I’ve played around a bit with different set ups and skis come and go.. I always end up on my same bindings.   That’s my theory anyway.   That and the contactless bindings have only been out a short time.   Most pros are still using classic reflex set ups.

  7. Another set today .  Ran the stock Long/shallow again but moved Bf back to 29 3/8.  Was much better and balanced for me .   May ski one more set on those then go Short/Deep with some Cole G. Tweaks.  Love how it just turns without thinking about it .  Offside was great today .  Definitely less effort and speedy.   I see good things in the works

  8. First ride today on my 66 .   Love how the ski comes around with little effort.  It’s still a Vapor rocket cross course.  Little less effort than my last few.  Went with stock L/S.  May bring the front boot back a hair before moving fin.  Felt different as I usually end up Short/Deep.  Anyone have tried other than stock numbers yet.  @ColeGiacopuzzi?? Only got a quick set in so more next week.
