  1. what is everyone using for video while skiing? My sons are "less" than reliable at running the go pro. I think this is one of the things I really want to get up and going. It would provide tons of laughs for the family and maybe even show us what we do wrong or possibly right.
  2. Thank you for the replies. I ended up picking up a radar terrain package. It sort of fell in our laps and hopefully will work well. Should find out this coming weekend.
  3. sorry, yes more info. He is 17, no passes yet (we are brand new and I am not comfortable towing through the course yet). He skis at 28 currently.
  4. I am looking to buy a newer ski for my oldest son and looking for some recommendations. He is a 5'7", 165lbs beginner/novice. We have joined a club and have a slip at a local lake. Skiing 2 to 3 times a week I anticipate he will progress quickly, especially when I can get him signed up with some coaching. I am thinking Radar union or HO Omni but open to others. TIA
  5. Just want to update this thread. I ended up buying the 05 w/ ZO conversion last weekend. Boat was as advertised and ran great. Sadly I am now working out of town and the weather will be blah when I get home. Hoping for 1 more week or weekend of warm weather to ski a couple times and then she is going to get some work done. Typical 15 year old boat stuff. New steering cable, good cleaning of the bottom hull, removing the subwoofer, etc. Thank you to all the responded and reached out to me. I haven’t had a chance to talk to the private lakes yet but that will happen and starting next spring my boys and I are going to make it a goal to ski at least 3 days a week.
  6. I have 2 boats that I am considering. Both are 7 hours from me. 2000 with under 200 hours - $18,500 https://www.onlyinboards.com/2000-Ski-Nautique-for-sale-Sparks-Nevada-117044.aspx 2005 with 660 hours on Zero Off conversion (still waiting to see how many hours before conversion) new interior. $25,500 https://www.onlyinboards.com/2005-Ski-Nautique-196-LE-for-sale-Junction-City-Oregon-117011.aspx
  7. Back on the hunt. After driving 10 hours we found the boat to be completely misrepresented. Vinyl has issues, gel coat has issues. Buyers beware EDIT- After a lot of driving and some sleep, I am slightly less salty than yesterday. The drive was absolutely amazing, the wife and I really enjoyed spending the last two days with our teen boys and no cell service for most of it. That alone was worth the diesel and time. We will definitely be going back to the Flathead Lake/Whitefish Lake area of Montana. The boat was absolutely filthy when the sellers representative showed up at the ramp. The seller lives in Canada but has a vacation home on Whitefish lake MT. His caretaker is who listed the boat and who I dealt with for the entire time. As soon as I was within ten feet my heart sank. Oxidization all over, chips and scuffs especially on port side. It would need all new decals after a good wet sand and waxing. Interior had 4 cuts to the vinyl and numerous stains. The most worrisome item to me was that the prop shaft was not centered in the thru-hull. It was pretty obvious that the owners used it very hard and didn't do any maintenance or cleaning. I offered below low book and of course they declined. Oh well, back to the thrill of the hunt.
  8. @rockdog i have been watching every source for a 196. I found this one listed on FB marketplace in MT. I definitely paid a premium but I missed out on two other low hour boats and wasn’t going to let this one slip away as well. The boat has 260 hours on it. The owners used it at their vacation home and then the caretaker would drain all the fluids and winterize it.
  9. Thank you for the replies so far. @jjackkrash I have watched a couple of Joel's videos but had not seen this one. Thank you! I think I really just need to get our boat and get on the water. Only a few more weeks left here and then the dreaded winter sets in. I am hoping someone can help me with a question I have. Does anyone know what brand of trailer this is? More importantly does anyone know the width? The sellers wife had to go in for surgery today and he is unavailable. Also, I assume you guys and gals like pics as much as I do. So here is my new tug
  10. Hello, I have been lurking for a while and will finally be joining the rest of the ballers at the end of the week. We currently have a ‘19 Nautique gs22 but will be the proud owners of a new to us ‘08 SN196 w/ 343. I am driving to pick it up this weekend. We will also be joining 1 of the private lakes around us (Boise, ID). My goal is to learn how to drive and ski the course and share that with my wife and 2 teenage sons. I have owned numerous inboards but this will be our first DD. I am trying to go into this adventure with the mindset of being brand new. So here come the newb questions. 1. Is there an online source for learning how to drive the course and etiquette for private lakes? I have been to Broadside a few times when doing demos with the Nautique dealer but not to actually ski or drive the course. 2. Does anyone have contacts for someone local to us that we could hire to instruct us on skiing and driving? 3. The boat is coming from a similar altitude 2900’ but we will be using it at our cabin on some weekends 5000’ ele. It looks like the acme 422 is a prop I should be looking into if it is not already installed? 4. Are there any upgrades or secrets I should know about this boat? Thank you for any replies and help. Eric
  11. I've done the original P90X program a few times and the only thing I still use is the yoga and core discs. Although not for awhile now. I find an hour a night of yoga takes all the back pain away and is quite relaxing. Also a great way to work on core strength in the off season. I also have a solo F80 treadmill that I walk on. I don't jog anymore but I do enjoy the incline feature. I use light weights for curls and working my shoulders while I'm walking.
