  1. We’re proud to welcome Chris “The Tower” Parrish to the Syndicate team. One of the most dominant athletes ever to ride a slalom ski, his enthusiasm for progression and passion for the sport itself is palpable. Parrish aka “CP” aka “The Tower” aka “Pickleman”, looks forward to a strong return to the pro scene “With HO’s relentless pursuit of perfection and quality, I never have to second guess if I’m utilizing my talent to the fullest.”

From 2006 through 2013, CP remained in the top 10, reaching #1 again in 2009.

To really live Life, you’ve gotta put yourself in situations that give you that feeling. We all know the feeling….its equal parts adrenaline, fear and excitement….wrapped up in a tortilla of being completely present. So present, in fact, that for those few fleeting moments, nothing else matters…the rest of the world melts away, and you’re completely free to be the purest expression of what it means to be You. That is the FlowPoint.

Now, to achieve that, you’ve gotta have the right toys. In our case, we’re talking about the best water sports products money can buy. To create the best possible products, you have to have passion. Without it, you lose your way pretty quickly, and can never sustain the curiosity needed to create breakthrough after breakthrough, year after year.

There’s a small team of people in the Pacific NorthWest, that have dedicated their lives to designing and creating the best water sports products on Earth. This story is their story….and its just the first half of a two-part series on what makes HO Sports the brand that everyone’s chasing.

  3. It’s time to get to work! Method Series 2 is dropping March 4th and registration is now open!

RADIX Logo smallABOUT RADIX: Radix Functional Fitness was founded by European record holder and World Games Champion, Bojan Schipner. 5. Interesting changes below. For all the details see http://nautiquebigdawg.com/2019-rules-and-regulations/

Head-to-Head Seeds 1-8 will be based upon best single score from any of the qualifying rounds. Ties will be broken by using skiers score from second round of qualifying (e.g. back-up score from skiing in the qualifying event). If a tie still exists, the initial seeding placement from that event will be used.

Head-to-Head Seeds 9-24 will be based upon cumulative score of both qualifying rounds. In the case of a tie on cumulative score, ties will be broken using the skier’s best score from qualifying rounds. If a tie exists for any spot other than 24th, second-level ties will be broken using the skier’s USA Water Ski National Rankings List score or equivalent IWWF average (non-US skiers). If a tie for the 24th spot exists after the first- level tiebreak criteria (e.g. best score from qualifying rounds), a run-off will be held to determine the 24th slot. If run-off consists of multiple skiers, the skiing order will be determined by the running order at the time of the tournament start.

25th place and below will be based upon best single score from any of the qualifying rounds. Ties will be broken by using skiers score from second round of qualifying, unless first round scores are only available scores. (E.g. back-up score from skiing in the qualifying event). If a tie still exists, the initial seeding placement from that event will be used.

NEW FOR 2019: Skiers that qualify for Seeds 9-24 will meet in a NEW single round Head-to-Head called the Last Chance Round (LCR). The LCR will be run after Qualifying and before the Sweet 16 and will be scheduled by the LOC. Winners of the LCR brackets will determine Seeds 9-16 in the Sweet 16 Final Bracket.

Officials and Boat Order: Officiating crews will be split into two boats (Boat 1 and Boat 2). Designation of Boat 1 and Boat 2 will be chosen by the chief driver and will not change during the event (e.g. the same two drivers will pull the head-to-head.). The boats will rotate which crew takes the skier off the dock in the head-to-head pairing in accordance with the following:

    Ryan-Dodd.jpg

A farm in rural Canada doesn’t exactly seem like the perfect breeding ground for a world class water skier (or two!). But a lot of digging, water, and a cow pasture would become a man-made lake large enough for a speed boat, skis, and the start of a legendary career for Ryan Dodd. At age 10, he began skiing recreationally with his father and grandfather in the water reserve that they kept for their cattle and it quickly became clear that he had the talent to excel. Growing up in a family with a very successful horse-trainer for a mother and businessman for a father, Dodd understood the value of a strong work ethic and thrived on the pressure to also make something of his career.

Dodd was a rising star in his sport when a night of celebrating took a sharp turn for the worst. It was his “first and absolutely last bar fight,” and he woke up not recalling exactly what had happened. Thinking he was just a bit beaten up, Ryan got on a plane and flew home. Upon landing, however, he realized that his injuries were far worse than he had originally believed. Upon rushing him to the ER, doctors discovered that he had a skull fracture and bleeding in three places in his brain — an injury so severe that he was lucky to be alive after not seeking immediate medical attention. He stayed at the hospital until the bleeding stopped and narrowing avoided surgery, but the road to recovery would be long. Dodd was required to lay flat in the dark for three months to allow his brain to fully heal. He wasn’t allowed to go outside, have caffeine, read, look at screens, or do anything that got his heart rate up. And most definitely not water ski.

Ryan shares, “it was definitely the most life-changing experience that I would never have asked for.” The months in the dark forced him to make drastic changes not only in his physical health, but also in his mindset towards himself. He had to overhaul his nutrition and sleep patterns in order to recover. No more caffeine, sugar, alcohol, staying out late, or sleeping in. He became more intentional with his time, giving space for reading, self-improvement, meditation, and reflection. When he was ready to take steps towards training again, he got in contact with a sports psychologist and a performance coach to help him stay holistically healthy. Finally, eight months after his injury, Dodd strapped on his skis for his first competition and scored a personal best. That milestone was followed shortly after by a first place victory at the the US Masters and a world title.

During his recovery, Ryan read a book that encouraged him to “turn obstacles into opportunities.” He used to view defeat or challenges as negative experiences, rather than moments to evaluate and grow. This shift in his mindset enabled him to take his recovery day by day, and has marked his career ever since. He learned that focusing on doing his best would always take him further than dwelling on the next big win. Performance goals remain important, but he has found that small, attainable goals in all areas of life are actually more rewarding and motivating. Although he’s back to skiing professionally, he shares that he is dreaming bigger than just gold medals and championships – he wants to help evolve the sport, encourage others, and mentor younger athletes. He currently trains with his dad, who has was titles in the Over 55 water skiing circuit himself, and looks forward to bettering himself at each competition in the coming year.

It's with great pleasure that Jolly Ski and RadaR Skis have decided to combine efforts again and organize the second edition of the San Gervasio Junior Challenge!

This invitational event will feature the very best Junior skiers in the world, competing like Pros among the Pros.

The top 4 Under 17 Boys and Girls in the World will be selected according to the March 12th 2019 IWWF World Ranking, the day after Moomba Monday. These skiers will receive a formal invitation by Jolly Ski and RadaR Skis to compete for a total purse of $2,000, divided equally between Girls and Boys.

"I am so stoked we get to do this again!" says Matteo Luzzeri, San Gervasio Pro Am organizer and Pro skier. "The Inaugural Junior Challenge was a walloping success last year, with PBs and breathtaking head-to-head action by the best Girls and Boys in the World. These skiers perform and carry themselves as true professionals, and we at Jolly Ski are proud to provide a unique tournament experience for them."

“After last year's success, we knew it was something we wanted to continue!" says Brooks Wilson, RadaR Skis Brand Manager. "These skiers are at the pinnacle of their junior careers and it is awesome to give them the opportunity to ski alongside the pros in the same format.”

"I was very pleased with my invitation to this competition of the highest level" says Valeryia Trubskaya, the Winner of the Inaugural Junior Girls Challenge. "The organizers created ideal conditions for skiing, and broadcasted the action through a professional webcast and well-chosen announcers. It was a great experience to participate in this competition and interact with the world stars of our sport!"

"In my honest words, it was the best tournament I’ve ever been to." says Griffin Stange, Winner of the Inaugural Junior Boys Challenge. "One of the most appealing things immediately was the guaranteed two rounds. When traveling over seas to compete it might seems not worth it for just one round of skiing, but at your tournament, I was guaranteed at least 2 rounds of skiing, which is a very appealing aspect. The tournament was run exactly how tournaments should run. It’s almost indescribable how wonderful the environment at this tournament was. I would recommend it to everyone who has the opportunity."

Invited skiers will be selected according to the IWWF Weekly Ranking of Tuesday, March 12th 2019. Invited Junior athletes will not pay any entry fees and compete in the following format:
    • One preliminary round on Saturday morning to determine head-to-head seeding.
    • Bracket of 4 on Saturday early afternoon after first Pro qualification round.
    • Bracket of 2 on Sunday early afternoon after Pro bracket of 8
    • Cash price breakdown of $500 for first place, $300 for second, and $200 for third.

Invited Junior athletes will be recognized during the Skiers' dinner meeting on Friday evening and handed their personalized bibs for the event.

  13. The International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) continues its push to have cable wakeboarding as part of the Summer Olympic Games.

Efforts were stepped up on 14th January 2019 in Paris by a delegation led by IWWF President Jose Antonio Perez Priego, an IWWF World Cable Wakeboard Champion Sanne Meijer and the President of the French Waterski and Wakeboard Federation, head of the IWWF Olympic Task-Force, and former many time World Waterski Champion Patrice Martin.

Cable Wakeboarding is considered to be a contender for a spot on the short list of additional sports for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, competing with surfing, skateboarding, karate, sport climbing, baseball/softball, pétanque, squash and billiards.

The Paris 2024 Olympics Organising Committee (OCOG) and IOC are looking for sports that fulfil their goal of presenting an extraordinary Games. These sports should be youthful, visually exciting, highly appealing for TV audiences, gender equal, environmentally friendly and can provide legacy facilities for athletes of all abilities and ages.

“We believe cable wakeboarding is mature, ready, and uniquely qualified to be part of the Games”, said IWWF President Jose Antonio Perez Priego. “It could do for the Summer Olympics what snowboarding did for the Winter Olympics, “It’s inclusion would be a stepping stone for other IWWF disciplines into the Olympics. To succeed, all members of the IWWF and especially the cable wakeboard community must be fully invested in this special opportunity.“

A decision on which sports will be shortlisted will be made in June 2019 during the IOC Session with a final decision on which sports make it into the Paris Olympic Games in December 2020.

The French Waterski and Wakeboard Federation (FFSNW) is already well advanced in preparing for any possible participation in the Olympics. It’s in the final stages of constructing a cable wakeboard park at a perfect location near Paris which will be operational by 2020. The venue will be funded entirely by the FFSNW with cooperation of the IWWF

“We have built a strategic development program within the French Federation so we will have cable wakeboarding in Paris soon,” said Patrice Martin. “The sport is growing like crazy. There are now 1,000 cable wakeboard parks around the world and projections show by 2024 that figure will grow to 1,500.”

In support of the Olympic Quest the IWWF has created a Task-Force which aside from those mentioned above include Gregory Saint-Genies, the Director of the FFSNW and a former winter Olympian, Walter Ditsch, the IWWF Cable Wakeboard Council Chairman, Paul Fong, the Executive Director of the IWWF, and former world waterski champion George Athans who will act as the Chief Strategist and who will be in charge of all presentation materials and video production.

The IWWF requests everyone to support cable wakeboarding by sharing its promotional video (click below to play) and using #wake2024

About the IWWF: The International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) is the world governing body for towed watersports and has over 90 affiliated Federations worldwide. It was founded in 1946 in Geneva, Switzerland. It is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the sole authority for towed watersports. The IWWF is an affiliate member of the Association of IOC Recognized International Sports Federation (ARISF) and the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF). & Wakesurfing

  14. With a surface area comparable to two skis combined, the Hovercraft provides get-ups easier than on a wakeboard and once up, it rips turns like a surfboard! It’s a great choice for beginners all the way to experts who want fun surf-inspired open water ski sessions. Great control and better balance in a low effort waterski that works great at low speeds. The days of tug-of-war deep water starts are over, as the Hovercraft lifts skiers out of the water like they’ve been given a helium injection. Widetrack Frame: Extra stable platform for easy deep water starts. The fuller ski outline means clear directional getups…less wobble & less spray in the face! More surface area also allows for smoother getups at slower speeds!
