  1. Happy new year everyone! Getting the itch for some skiing early this year. Last year put a damper on our season due to the constant rain and since there's no snow yet this year here still, I'm looking to order some new gear early! I've currently been running an Edge front binding and a radar ARTP in the rear. Curious from those of you (if any) that have made the switch from an RTP to the reflex R style rear binding. Did it work for you? What were the challenges you faced if any? I'm curious if i like the free heel because i can move my ankle a little more freely so if i should just stick with that or maybe make the switch.
  2. @"Pat M" safety wise i have always come out of them but i've been thinking of a hardshell setup. do you think a hardshell can help improve performance?
  3. Curious what the opinion is on here of when a rubber boot is starting to affect performance. Is it me or is my boot skied off? (spoiler alert: it's probably me)
  4. @BCM thanks for your info it will help me a long way into deciding which way to go. overall i think what i need to do before switching any kind of gear up is get myself back to where i'm 100% consistent to where i was last summer. living in the northeast definitely puts a damper on my ability to ski year round lol. after coming off an arm injury last year i think i need to work on that first and make sure my form is correct first and foremost before anything else....after all...we can talk all day about different gear and what it might do but if your form isnt correct then none of it matters lol
  5. @Orlando76 i had the same thing happen to me last year when i wanted to try the pro model so you aren't the only one. i ended up reaching out to jon travers and tried an alpha instead. @BCM looking at the two i would think that the supershell allows for a little more flex than the classic (with the carbon u) while being more fitted to the plate. i could be wrong though as i'm not an expert in these bindings. im also curious in how the reflex reacts/fits vs the edge or if they're somewhat similar.
  6. @APB while a majority are saying hard shell what is your reasoning behind a carbitex or is it just more your preference @aupatking i have heard the reflex bar wears down the shell quicker than the edge
  7. @BCM do you know if there’s any difference in the edge vs HO plates for a radar ski vs HO. I know they are both the same but curious to know if the HO version is specific to their skis. I’m also curious (bringing up an old and talked about topic I’m sure) of any advantages/disadvantages to the edge vs reflex and vice versa. I know the edge is molded but I’m looking more for how each reacts and if one suits different skiing styles better
  8. @Orlando76 that's why I run loose laces and make sure my heel is able to freely move a substantial amount up and down in the boot. i don't over tighten because of this.
  9. so i've been running a profile with an RTP on an 18 lithium vapor for some time right now but i'm feeling like i want something a little more stable. the profile is a good boot but not sure where to go next. i like the feeling of the rubber but have never tried a hardshell. because of this i'm considering either something like the edge or staying with rubber and going with a carbitex. also, yes, i'm aware of the safety part of it that since i'm running an RTP i should probably be on a releasable but lately (of course thanks to the stories on here) i've been running my laces looser. usually make sure that i can pull my heel up and down in the case of an OTF fall. i also don't want to make a 5-600 dollar mistake but yes i know that i will never know if i don't try one..but want to get some feedback here first.
  10. @ballsohard tried an HRT wasn't really a fan of it...maybe i just need to run one a little more.. @jayski just trying to see if i can improve anything from it...but still not opposed to staying with RTP...just wanted to get some thoughts here
  11. Hi all, posted something similar to this a while back but changing it up a little bit. Been working on going from an RTP to a double boot again. Currently running 2016 profiles but the profile's are extremely high it feels. Wondering if anyone has any good suggestions on which boot to run for the rear that would be good for what i'm trying to do. Would like to get a good boot to learn but that i don't have to change out once i get better at running it.
  12. Hey all, Little bit of history first....started out with a ARTP, then went to a senate with a double boot, did ok on that (wasnt running a course then), and then went to a vapor with an ARTP. Did pretty well on that ski but still wasnt running a course. This year got a vapor lithium and have been running the course. Ended up buying it with double profiles (went with the 16's because i was able to find two of them for a good price). Ended up not liking the height on the rear and took my ARTP off of my old ski. Had worked fine until recently when i realized that it's lost a lot of it's "grip," and i just feel like i keep coming out of it really easily....Not sure if this is common or not with these over time. Anyways, been thinking about maybe going back to a double setup but still really want that mobility. Willing to give up the course for a little and re-learn some stuff but wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the direction to go. Have been looking at a reflex r type rear but also maybe going the brooks wilson route and cutting off some of the height from my profile i havent used...... any thoughts?
  13. @BraceMaker where can i find the ECM that i need to take a picture of on this model. I knew where everything was on my 01 but not sure if anything's changed (which i'm sure it has) in those 7 years. especially going from an old LTR5.7 to the MCX i'm sure A LOT has changed. i can tell you that the wake has B)
  14. @BraceMaker seems we posted at the same time haha. Okay. I will get one later when i get home from work.
  15. @MISkier so does that mean that if i don't have an E-controls ECM that i would not be able to add ZO at all?
