I had one and would like to find another for nostalgic reasons, I consider it to be my first real ski.
Perhaps you could explain the Panda Award to me.
Thank you.
Perhaps trading up is the way to go. However, I only ski open water, there aren’t any slalom courses out here in western Nebraska, but we still have fun carving up the big lake, 25 miles long and 4 miles across.
Yeah, that’s too bad. I’d like to see that change. The markets will dictate the actions of the companies, meanwhile, we can let them know our thoughts. Consumers dictate the markets, it starts with us.
Production capacity could be increased here in the US, perhaps making the cost of the ski higher. I personally would pay 25% more if the ski was made here.
How can you charge over $1000 for a ski made in Taiwan? The GT is $500 more than the Carbon V, so how much could it possibly cost if it were made here? Companies have products made overseas to save on production costs. Would the Carbon V be more expensive than the GT if it were built here? I would pay more for an American made ski, the overseas aspect makes it seem cheap.
A challenge for my friends and me is to successfully do a deep water start on a Captain Kidd junior slalom. At 47” long and a flat bottom, this early 70’s ski is short, narrow, and greasy. Anybody here ever indulge in such antics? I would love to here some similar stories. Thanks.
