  1. You can have the conversation, but no two people are alike and we are all going to fall into this matrix at a different spot. No sense in trying to decide which is better or worse or right or wrong.
  2. Really! What mature responsible adult goes on the internet with fake IDs? Oh wait, never mind.
  3. Please don't flame me for an off topic post, but a couple people equated some of the ads above to the good skiing times in the 80s. I have this short video clip of an 80s (1986) outing. Tons of fun skiing in those days, outside of Houston. I was in my mid 20s to mid 30s at the time. Would head to the river almost every weekend from march to november. Just sharing some memories.
  4. And of course, the grandaddy of them all(censored) (My apologies and please remove if crosses a line)
  5. @mark petrie Thanks for the offer. He hoped to reach out to you, but schedule ended up not allowing.
  6. This does not surprise me. There are a ton of good skiers on here that warrant the latest and best equipment. There are also intermediate and novice (like myself). I understand and accept the fact that state of the art equipment helps. But I also feel that I dont need equipment that is better than me and that a lot of people are not ski limited, i.e. it is them that is holding them back, not their 10 year old ski. A lot of folk are compelled to "keep up with the Jones's" and buy the latest and greatest every year, but in a lot of cases, I can't help but think that money would be better spent on gas.
  7. Jason, could you also PM me your contact info. Also in the neighborhood and interested.
  8. @ReallyGottaSki Visited a classmate there in 1977, the year I graduated college. Here is a photo from that visit.

  10. Not a competitor and not much of a course skier, but doesnt mean I dont have fun and dont have goals. This was a great year for me. Typically I am half footer, half slalom/free ski with one or two course opportunities a summer. This year was more like 90:10 slalom/footing. Recap: new to me boat, a 96 176 vs my old 1976 ski tique, so a much better pull new to me newer Radar Senate, vs my 90s vintage HO Probably something like 10 course outings give or take, which is a lot for me. finally broke the 15/30 barrier with some pretty clean 22/30 runs. Form "behind the boat" is getting better. Goal for this year was 22/32. (I will be men's 7 in a few months, so 32 will be "my speed" not that I ever intend to compete, but I like the personal challenge.) I didnt make 22/32, but Im on my way, that is what next year is for. Would like more course outings (like weekly) but I am in the position of having to deploy/retrieve every outing, so it takes a little effort. Shoot for two free ski outings a week, so work on form there, as best I can. Was out of commission most of Sept due to back issues but carefully slid back into it Sunday and felt pretty good. Overall a great season, and fortunately, not over yet.
  11. One of my ski buds is spending a week in Houston next week, and would really like to get out and ski. He didnt anticipate being able to, so didnt take his ski. Sort of a novice, but coming along nicely, almost ready for course, and likes a wider ski (He has an Obrien Sequence) so he would need to borrow something like that. Anybody at Lakes of Katy available to give him a pull and loan a ski? He's free during the day. Let me know. Thanks.
  12. He almost pulled it off. Needs a little practice and he'll have it.
  13. For those of us that have to deploy/retrieve course every time, what would be the best/easiest/fastest way to attach mini course (green) balls to the arms and keep deployment time to the absolute minimum. (EZ slalom)
  14. Yup. I've never reached out like that, but have had a few encounters with pros that have always been enjoyable. Not quite the same, but I've done Nautique Swervin clinics with Breanne Dodd, Nate and Ryan Dodd. All were great. I spend about 1/2 my time barefooting. Have been doing it since the 70s and stepped up my game in the 80s after buying Jon Gillette's book. In recent years, I have gotten to hang with John a few times and had a casual barefoot outing with him and 5 time world champ Rachel Normand. She gave me some tips that day that really impacted my bacerds footing.
  15. Hope to see it in action sometime soon. Remember, you owe me a pull behind that new tug.
  16. New to me this spring. Loving it and having a blast with it. Quite a step up from my 1976 Ski Tique. Ski Tique was "cooler" and I thought I'd have it forever. It was good enough for my purposes, but never say never. The 176 is a great little boat, subject of a few discussions on here through the years.
  17. Good tip. They have a new/old P6. Can someone tell me how that compares to Lyric.
  18. Looking for used Radar Lyric (or roughly equivalent ski) for my niece. She’s pretty set on 67”, front boot, RTP, around $200-250? Let us know if you’ve got one in the rafters
  19. OK, I'm going back just a few years, but here is Jackie Kennedy and John Glenn, together.
