  1. His primary (if not sole) focus should be getting across the wake without fear and with speed, angle, and body position (@markn photo).  Won’t matter how wide he starts, he will loose all the width after a few balls if he can’t get across the wake properly. When he is not able to ski the course he should ditch the turns and just practice getting across the wake.  A while back, @RobHazelwood posted a video on working up to a full speed wake crossing which could be beneficial.

  2. Got my first set of the year in yesterday, my first set as a member at NoName lake. Pretty shaky skiing but felt really good to get out there. On our public water course we can’t get started until May so it’s a real treat to get started in March on a beautiful spring day, air 69, water 59.  Getting out there again today to get some driving and more buoys in.

  3. @Horton What data do you need to see to “change your behavior”?

Fitbit provides a lot of different data points but may not be what you’re looking for.  My wife and I have been Fitbit users for years and have had different models.  We love all the data available but the quality of the device is at times suspect.  We have both gotten warranty replacements. They back there product week but it’s frustrating when they stop working for no apparent reason. They were recently purchased by google which may or may not be a good thing.

  4. If the regulators are coming for the surfers, it’s only a matter of time before they come for skiers. It has already happened here in the Portland OR area.  A major section of the Willamette river has a complete ban on towed water sports during the summer.  Where we ski, surfing and ballast is outlawed plus we get to pay an extra fee to participate in any form of towed activities.

Honestly what you are describing is the reason to have some good medical scissors in the boat.  Cut the overlay.

Or just unscrew the whole boot and let the medical staff cut it off or give you enough drugs so that they can pull it off. 😜

If you really wanted to save the boot, you could have someone dismantle it while it’s on your foot and slide it off.

  6. The Senate is a great ski at any build level. You probably won't need to adjust the fin so don't rule out the Alloy if that is what you budget allows.  But generally buy the highest build you can afford.  SIA is a great place for deals but if your in a hurry that may not work for you.  It's end of season so maybe your local shop will cut you a deal on a left over '23 as the '24's are a new shape.

  7. So, skied the tournament yesterday and chose to T&B like most everyone else as lighting in the evening could have been pretty tough. The photo below is from 9:00AM. Overall, I liked doing the T&B. I had a decent score for me (0.5 at -32) in round one.  Round two I blew my gate at -28 and ended up getting only 4 on a pass I’ve been pretty solid on. I like being able to take another crack at it with having to stew on the bank for another couple hours. Ran the -28 on the retry and ended up with 2@-32 which is one below my PB.
