  1. First tournament in Michigan was held this weekend and exclusively used S-line ropes, R3 was used for slalom. From a boat judge perspective loved using them especially with all line lengths being slide loops as I prefer those to the standards. For early season skiing there were some big scores posted especially considering how late we started skiing this year! Multiple PBs by younger skiers, M1-W1, and more seasoned skiers were scoring at or above their average. Hell I even surprised myself skiing 2 buoys under my PB.
  2. @RRGR at this point I believe they are just looking for anchor and buoys, anchors I can fix easy haha
  3. @MISkier working with GV to piece back their portable course before i start the permit process with DNR. Yeah we are waiting on that to be finished mining out so WS can have two sites ;)
  4. @RAWSki I was hoping to go down, not sure I'll make it now we have a tournament the following weekend at our site and I'll most likely be putting buoys in still at that point haha
  5. @Mastercrafter glad to say we got to go out and test some today!
  6. @bojans in the last couple of tournaments that I helped at that waere equipped with surepath we did not need the base station as their was a radio tower close enough for us to get service. We had no issues with the system running off of the radio tower and the most restrictive aspect was making sure we had a hot spot running in farm country.
  7. @ToddL whenever I use a new rope for a tournament it generally get's used that week during practice or at least a couple sets before tournament. No lines fresh out the box should be used the day of.
  8. @Mastercrafter support Michigan products ;)
  9. First tournament: September 2012 collegiate tournament in Michigan as a freshman that had been on the team for less than a week. Drove to the campsite Friday night with the team in a thunder storm and it downpoured all night, slept in a tent with a leak and I think the high that night was in the 50s. Long story short best time I had ever had between comradery, new friends and event. I've been hooked ever since.
  10. Here's the website: https://slinesusa.com/collections/slalom-rope-collection
  11. The owner of S ropes skis at my club and our club used a couple of his prototypes towards the end of the year. From my perspective (and let me be clear I'm not a slalom guru), I noticed no difference between those ropes and the masterlines we were using prior. Some of the better skiers in the club tested them for him (35 off and deeper skiers) and gave them favorable reviews. So far I've only used his slalom ropes, but its time for me to get a new jump rope so I'll probably getting one from him this spring.
  12. Just sanctioned our state tournament last week and working on sanctioning a collegiate tournament and AWSA tournament. Still hear of some clubs holding out until more information is available.
  13. @LeonL I ask because the boat is having a hard time locking into speeds. I've driven a couple different boats with stargazer and this one just doesn't seem to pick up as easily as the others.
  14. Alright this might be a silly question, but is there a way or is perfect pass supposed to be recalibrated over a certain time frame? Is this something only a dealer can do or could it be done at home?
  15. @Mastercrafter can you find enough people to make that a reality? Looks like an awesome possibility, maybe after some time the guy has thought might as well sign a short term lease?? MI needs more sites ahha
  16. @MISkier Grand Valley has actually been using Buddy's pond to ski as noone else uses it so they can always have calm conditions and it is pretty protected. If we could get a permit to drop a course in there then they would be well set up. Personally I am not sure of the process, but I probably should have a conversation with Dan C. Talk to some of the memebers at WS the course is still in, but with all the weeds that have grown up it was impossible to find the anchor lines.
  17. @JPwaterski @MISkier yeah so GV Waterski as a club no longer has a 501C status, however if you worked with club sports and somehow got the "Donation of the site" to be to Club sports then there would be the tax write off option such as what was done with the club boat. I would love to have either of those sites used as an additional site as West Michigan is booming with more skiers that want private courses, but theres just not the locations at this point. If any of these sites were to be interested West Shore would be a great resource for adding a surveyed course, and other resources.
  18. Hey Cole, hopefully this ramp is coming with floats as those are the one of the biggest points that makes a ramp good and can also be pretty pricey. At west shore we wax our jump every other year and get our wax from skifly.com. Like @jmhjgh said, the water is super simple. We usually have an extra pump on hand and I got our from West Marine for ~$35. In the past we had a solar panel but it broke so we have just been cycling through 2 marine batteries. One of them lasts a pretty long time. If you are going to try and put in a full jump course so that you can do more then rideovers then you are gonna have to start talking to someone with survey equipment. If you've got more questions HMU at Ripfest
  19. @MISkier yeah, but this is still more exciting to me
  20. I'm just a washed up college skier at this point, but it feels great to know that there will be a real collegiate season again this year! Our club hosts a college tournament every year and then I will go to another to help officiate, and there's just something about the college tournament environment that is awesome. Who else is excited for the season?
  21. My clubs jump surface is getting a little dated and we use it alot these days. The talk of resurfacing it is gonna need to be had within the next couple of years. As it is a club jump we are going to have to make sure the club has enough funds to pay for it. For those of you who have resurfaced, who/what have you used. I've heard of various ways to do it, but I wanted to know what might be best or what things to avoid! Thanks!
  22. I bought a set of D3s that were cut down from 92s to 86. I've been using them for 4 years at this point and have had no problems with them. Yes if you are to cut from the tip it will work fine as the rockers are actually the same and they add length via a longer tip. Now cutting down to 76-80 I'm not sure if the rocker would be the same for say a set of nighmares of goodmans. If you order a set of nighmares on D3 I believe the shortest they have are 82 so I'd imagine that's when the ski design changes.
  23. If anyone wants to make a video for youtube I'm sure it would get a ton (5-10) of hits! I'd try but there might be too much cursing to edit out.
  24. I need to rewrap a set of Wiley super jumps. I already have the wraps, but was looking to see if anyone had any tips or tricks before trying. The internet is definitely lacking some videos on this!
  25. @MISkier definitely echo what you are saying! There is still some hope for the spring season to happen in 2021 and I hope for the kids that they can have nationals and all stars! The kids that are already involved in the sport are really hankering to get back into the sport, but my main concern is the lack of recruiting of recreational and non-skiers we have had due to this. I don't think we will see the full results of this until about 3 years from now.
