I've been addicted to skiing since I was 7 when I first did it in the mid 80's behind my dads old outboard - I always thought back then that barefoot was the ultimate - Brett wing was my hero here in Australia. Got to hang out with my family and make good friends from the lake that I still ski with today - trips away etc... never got into the tournament scene - long story but the tournament scene where I live died a bit just as I was getting keen. Fast forward to when I was about 33 and I tried the course and loved it... a few injuries here and there but yeah I'm hooked at chasing buoys and the great thing is so are my kids!! great family time - but it is an expensive sport which is a huge barrier - also access over here is terrible... I've been lucky though...

@grathwohlk pm’d you

@RichardDoane is it for sale ?
-
Thanks @DavidN ... I have been enquiring on that one also.
-
@Wish - yes I've looked at the Prostars - Very nice and ticks a lot of boxes - I was very close to buying a PS. But without starting a MC vs Naut argument I have been led down the 200 route... this boat is going to be my long term boat so I really need piece of mind. Rightly or wrongly I have experienced that with the 200s and in aust where I live I will have more availability to parts and service etc for a 200.

Hi all
Not a lot of boat out there right now - I'm looking for a 200 with high hours (to bring price down) that is around the 35-45K mark. I'll be importing to Australia. Anything out there or anything coming up soon?
thanks

Can anyone with. Ramlin trailer confirm If the fenders are bolted or welded on?
-
@oldjeep that makes sense. Hydraulic surge brakes work fine.
-
Thanks all. I really appreciate it. @DavidN so the tires are wider than the fenders? ( we call them guards or mud guards) do you know the width from fender to fender?
-
Yes width over here in Australia is max 2.5m. The above two are 2.6m and 2.58m. Will need to figure out how to modify to meet the regulations here. Perhaps a new shorter axle and possibly cut or notch out the guards. Then there’s lights and the hitch/brakes.
What brakes do Ramlin normally run back in 2014/15? I’d say electric hydraulic?

Thank you everyone ??

@dbutcher - thanks so much - could you measure with the trailer folded and not folded please? and the same with the platform on and off. That would be very helpful - and your very correct with the variances with tires and type of trailer - I think the one I'm looking at comes with a Ramlin as well.
@DavidN - thanks so much - another measurement will always help - I'll add in some to the quote to allow for minor differences.
Appreciate it.
Now anyone have a Carbon Pro that can be measured? I'm tossing up between the two now... decisions decisions... The CP is a lot cheaper and hear the wake is as good as the 200 at all lines...

Hi all - I'm trying to get some quotes on shipping a 200 to Australia. Does anyone have a 200 sitting on a trailer that can tell me the exact overall length, width and height please? and has anyone got a clue on the weight of a trailer? The boat itself I am allowing 1300kg. Thanks in advance!

All the best with the recovery - you'll be back - slowly but surely... I tried clinchers and decided the added benefit wasn't worth the risk.... Why did you use the clinchers if it wasn't for added grip etc?

Stack = lean = more speed (with less input) = earlier to buoy = more control and time

Hi all
Looking at a used 200. I slalom 80% of the time but during winter we do some barefoot. Does anyone have experience trying to foot with this type of boat? I mostly go off the short rope off the bar. Can you get learner bars for these boats? I assume you can. And is the chine ? Spray affect being able to foot from the bar? And will the 5.7 push it along enough to carry me at 40mph. Cheers. Ps. I’m a very social barefooted so I know this boat won’t be great at it. As long as it is doable

I have been working on my lean - that's the bit after your turn - your turns aren't too bad and the good news is that your attacking the wake so that fear that some people have won't stop you from achieving a good lean. If you lean well (some people call it stacked etc) then you will generate a lot more speed across the wash from buoy to buoy. Then you'll be earlier and you'll be able to have a "relaxed" turn and get more angle etc etc.
I'd say I've been working on getting some lean for the past 6 months - prior to that I was just more worried about making passes even if they were ugly. So I finally told myself its ok to go longer rope or slower speed in order to find this lean. What I'm saying is - stay at 30 and find your lean.
What does lean feel like - my biggest wow moment was when I finally felt most of the load come through my back arm (only on my on-side pull tho) - that's when I knew I had made progress - It took me a few sets to get use to it and then I had combat the extra speed I had created. I watch back video and it still looks pretty terrible but feels heaps better which tell me I have a way to go. Now I'm getting some lean on my offside which is making skiing a whole lot easier and more enjoyable.
So for me - take a step backwards to help you go forward in the long run - find the strong body position and then figure out how to make that work when you are in the course...
and have fun!

@ScottScott - yeah I heard the same about the Ilmore engines... @vtjc thanks for the links and info - food for thought

Hi all
Looking for reviews of a 2010 model prostar - slalom wash at longer lines - I have read it can be a little big? or hard?? when does it start to improve? And is it "that" bad? For reference I skied behind the current shape TXI and I found that thing to be horrible at long line. Kids are at 28/26 mph - but improving so fast that they won't stay there long. I do ski with a few people that ski slow and long line. And what is it like at 34mph 22/28 off - that's where I ski mostly with hope of running the odd 32 soon
-
@skialex - guess that's where your relying on your crew to spin and save you
-
@6balls - I like to think I make the boat work harder than most... lol. :D
-
@FSSPCat Drivers are pretty good and on the ball, crash....hmmm generally I don't crash but there's always that one time. The PFD I wear is ok - but Im just starting to notice it now that I'm skiing a little more shorter line lengths - hard to describe... maybe its all in my head...
-
Hi - I'm still not wearing a comp vest ... seems I go against the grain. Can someone tell me if there is a performance added value to wearing one? Or are they just more comfortable and hence give better performance? Are they safe? Im a bigger guy 235 lbs 6,4".... probably can't find one to fit me to be honest - but will it float me enough? thanks
What's your favorite boot on an MOB front plate?
