  1. Thank you for the comments and advice. I suppose what I was looking for in a new ski was simply wondering what the last 40ish years in ski technology would give in a composite over wooden ski. I really enjoy my recreational ski ability and I am happy with what I have, I suppose a case of FOMO got me to thinking. Thanks again!
  2. Hi, First post here, been lurking a bit. Lots of good info on this site. I've been slalom skiing, recreational(weekend warrior stuff), for on and off for about 30 years. I've always used my grandfather's O'Brien wood ski (from the early 70's) 68". I like it, it is a double boot binding. A few years ago I decided to try a newer ski, thinking newer must be better. I picked up a used HO Burner 67" Super Sidecut for a screaming deal a couple of years ago, and off to the lake I went. I tried the ski, immediately I was completely fatigued. Legs, arms, I just felt like I was worn out after a couple of wake crossings. Rested a few hours, pulled out the O'Brien and life was good again. I tired a few more times over the summer and every time it was the same. Now the HO sits in my garage, but I'm wondering if I am missing something??? Typically ski at 28-32mph depending on how smooth the lake is on a given day on a 75' walmart ski rope. Mostly I catch grief from my younger friends who only wake-surf. One friend in particular said "30mph...I don't know if my boat will go that fast" I've tried faster (34mph) and slower (increments down to 24mph) no real noticeable difference to me in fatigue level. The ski seems to ride best at about 26-28, vs. my wood ski likes a bit faster. Any thoughts?
