  1. I found 351w firing order to be 13726548 Got that completely dialed in and still no luck.
  2. No I don’t have points, it has a coil pack, which I might end up replacing. I just did my wires and cap, now I cant get the boat started. I’ve found many different diagrams. It’s all routed up correctly. This is a head ache ??‍♂️
  3. To be honest I’m not sure what a point on an engine is. I’m pretty green, especially when it comes to anything older and carbed. But I did a compression test on each cylinder and it ranged from 115psi to 120psi. From forums I’ve read that is about standard and in operating order. I just got my new spark wires and cap that I’m going to put on. But I did notice each spark plug had a decent amount of oil on the threads. Could that be a sealing issue, and could it affect my spark, say oil getting on the electrode end of the plug and causing the misfire? So many questions I know but I appreciate the help
  4. Haven’t heard a misfire when it’s just at idle. I’m gonna do a compression test today and see what I’m getting. Replace the fuel/water separator and might pull off the spark wires and replace them as well.
  5. Could it be my fuel/water separator? I have a new one but just haven’t put it on yet
  6. PCM 351w Replaced the spark plugs & adjusted the distributor to get it tuned up. Got on the water today for the first time since my last post on here. Was running great. Took a few laps, chilled out and turned it off. Turned it back on, temp was good, impellers weren’t hot, nothing unusual. Started tubing and it developed a misfire again, around 25-30mph is what I believe it started happening at first. Then about every time we have it power it would misfire 2-3 times. Even out and do it again after about 3-5 minutes Any ideas on what’s causing the misfire. I’ve read some other forums and seems like a common problem that’s hard to trace down.
  7. Sorry guys I’ve been cranking out on this engine. Replaced the spark plugs, wires, cap (which was needed) and added some fuel stabilizer. Got the boat running and realized I should adjust the distributor and it’s running amazing. I took everyone’s advice on my previous post and this one. Thanks guys can’t wait for some sun lol
  8. So I posted a forum a little while ago about a possible fuel issue and it lead my to start thinking it could be a misfire more than a fuel problem. I got a brand new cap from my distributor, spark plugs and wire, and a fuel/water separator. Couple things I noticed along the way of tracking this issue down 1- I had oil in my flame arrestor tub coming from the valve cover to the tube. 2- slight oil on my spark plug threads. Not in the actual plugs or on the electrode end but only the threads. 3- I was told it could be a valve cover issue if the threads have oil, so I got new gaskets but can’t remove them cause of the impellers block a few bolts. Don’t want to take my impeller off so any advice would help. Let me know what y’all think, should I be concerned w/ the oil in the arrestor tube and on the threads or should I just replace what I originally started replacing. Motor is PCM 351w on a 93 brendella. Only got the boat on the water twice and both times I’ve got nothing but small issues that I can’t figure out. Got the steering completely fixed but this misfire is killing me. I’m sure these “newbie” questions get asked a lot. Thanks in advance.
  9. Am I able to test out my idle, and possibly run the boat while at home. So I’m not taking it to the lake and finding out changing spark wires/ plugs, cap etc didn’t work. Am I able to rev it up while just flowing water from my garden hose without damaging my impellers.
  10. Thanks everyone! I’ll be trying to get these parts by the end of the week and get back on the water this weekend!
  11. Hope this isn’t a dumb question but I’ve been researching the parts I need, I’m assuming I need to get marine specific parts. Like spark plugs wires and all that. lol I couldn’t just get these parts at Napa?
  12. @S1Pitts am I able to straight dump in the seafoam directly into the fuel tank? I’m sitting at a full tank pretty much as well
  13. So, we took my 93 ski brendella out today after redoing the entire steering system to test it out. The steering was great, but I noticed my 351 PCM was super hesitant. I put it in gear and it died right after launching. It didn’t start running clean until I got it fully warmed up but even then it was lagging a bit. I was thinking a fuel filter then cleaning up some lines and adding seafoam to the tank. I dont know how long this fuel has been in the boat but I’d suspect awhile. Last owner didn’t use the boat much and the fuel had to have been in there at least over winter. Full tank too. Just curious what I should diagnose and what to replace first then move forward. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
  14. I got ahold of the people at Skidim They helped me greatly, I’m going to be replacing the helm, and steering cable. My question is, does this system need to be upgraded as well? I’m going to be doing a deep clean of the hull, removing all rust, and stains as much as I can. I live in Washington so their not in shop so I’ll probably order these parts tomorrow. I just want to get everything needed and get it fixed ASAP. It’s starting to warm up over here and I’m not missing any lake days lol.
