  1. Fuel gauge on ours hadn't worked in YEARS. With our gauge swapping etc, I decided there had to be a solution. Started down the troubleshooting path, eventually hooked up a temporary jumper ground wire between the tank sender and a known good ground and presto, gauge worked. Pulled the original ground wire out (went from tank sender up to a grounding spot on the engine) and investigated. A short section of the wire was swollen up. Cut into it there and found that section completely corroded. Replaced the wire and have been loving a working gauge ever since. The corroded ground wire was the factory wire. It lives in the bilge on the hull bottom, so a potentially pretty moist environment. Any compromise in the wire insulation could allow water intrusion. Knowing the propensity for Malibu fuel gauges to not work, I wondered at the time how many others have the same issue with a potential of an iffy supply of original wire stock or a manufacturing process that may have damaged the wire during install.
  2. What Red said above! Lots of issues with Medallion computers driving the gauges when the computer is failing. Many of us have gone to stand alone gauges. More likely it as compared to the 4-in-1 combined gauge. Lots of good t-shooting tips over there.
  3. @skibrain thanks! Mount system of today looks the same looking at their website. I should have mentioned this setup would not be in the existing storage space as totally not enough space to have anything extra sticking out the back.
  4. If you're talking Washington state maker, Rankin came with our Response. ToddA talks about it here: Hoglunds sounds like they've got the stuff from Rankin. Might want to give them a shout and see what you can learn.
  5. @tlarocque I hope I get a pull behind your new ride!!! 😉
  6. @skibrain What kind of spray does it generate, and can you tell on the wake? Does the LXi have a manual wedge, and is it still on the boat? I took the manual wedge off our '00 Response so it would fit in the garage (no joke, the couple of inches saved (compared to in the down position) was enough to get the door closed (platform off)), and I can see spray out from under the platform that the wedge used to knock down. No affect on the wake, but I can see it. I wonder if the wedge in the up position might mitigate any odd spray off of the FAE...
  7. Lake dropped back under 40 for this last weekend, still skiing.
  8. @Slalom.Steve Correct! Most of the way down page 1 on this thread: I will edit/change my opinion here to say the grippiness of them is not a concern after I used them the first few times. I "thought" I was going to be concerned, but they are very good, IMO. I have zero concerns with grip. Handle is a Proline that is nearing needing to be replaced. But there is no feeling that I will lose the rope because of grip. I don't think about it at all when skiing. Hands stay completely dry. Get the latex glove seals onto the latex drysuit arm seals, and I'm golden.
  9. @Rednucleus you should work out some type of royalty deal! @101driver if you go read through that other thread, you'll see my strategy involves old, crappy worn out ski gloves under them. Grip is fine. The ski gloves provide me warmth. My hands are never cold.
  10. @101driver or just buy https://drysuitspareparts.com/product/unlined-dry-glove-with-wrist-seal/ No assembly required! I love them.
  11. As my buddy would say, "this doesn't suck!"
  12. Revisiting this thread, PerfectPass Star Gazer 3 Event went in after Christmas. "most difficult part of installation was fishing the cable from the gauge area back to the engine" is indeed true. Used a fish tape from the front back to the vent beside the motor, was able to then route the wire forward with the rest of the controls in the 'normal' spot. Been enjoying it since the install. Super cool tool! 🙂 Daughter has driven it, proclaimed it great. Can't wait for the wife to give it a spin. Shout out to @teammalibu for getting us hooked up with a deal!
  13. Saturday water temp still 38° I love the flat water this time of year!
  14. Who cares if you can't get OUT of the ski?!? Just means you're ready for your next set! 😂😂😂
