  1. Hello all, I ski behind a 350 hp engine. I used to slalom every summer for about 15 years. Just open water fun/leaning to the water. I am 32 years old and 5’10 and used to be 170 pounds until 2 summers ago. Now I am about 220 (down from 230 about 5 weeks ago) but getting back into shape. I workout/bike a few times a week and now ski once a week again. At the start of summer, I tried skiing again on an older/wider ski I have laying around. A 450 sq inch Connelly mid sx super sidecut. It seems like a pretty short ski. I had trouble getting up with both feet in as the drag was too much. I’m assuming it was technique because I’m assuming I have ok technique but never had a problem because I was in shape and used to skiing. I can’t even remember the last time I fell getting up on a slalom ski back when I was lighter. I read a little into technique and swapped to rear foot out and got up pretty easily. Now, I can get up almost every time. In 2019, I bought a Radar senate alloy 67 inches. Radar lists this ski for 160-200 lbs. obviously, I don’t want to buy another ski as I plan on cutting down below that range. My question is will I be able to get up on this ski or will it be much harder than the Connelly ski I am using. Is that extra 20 lbs over the preferred weight going to cause any issues/injuries etc? Been reading some great stuff on this forum. Thanks all!
