  1. @bradenb12 When you are in the area, let me know, and I'll set you up with some skiing if I am around.
  2. Big thanks to Tommy's Slalom Shop, Malibu Boats, and to Bryan Reinke for again providing a sweet new 2017 Malibu to pull the Colorado tournament scene. This past weekend they pulled our tournaments at Vision Lake in Montrose. More than 200 pulls over a two day period. Everyone loved the boat. It is a dream to drive and to ski behind. Butter soft wakes and incredible tracking. We implemented a new concept this year. We charged $5 per day per skier (including club members and comp'd officials) as a boat fee, 100% of which went to cover the costs for the boat. We were able to give more than $500 to cover the costs of providing and insuring the boat, not to mention the cost of gas to haul it over the Rockies to our site. We are truly grateful for Tommy's, Malibu Boats, and Bryan Reinke's dedication to supporting tournament skiing in Colorado. Without their support, we would not be able to host our annual tournament, which has turned into a pretty big annual event.
  3. Like @Zman says... galv nail through the bottom, but we go through a short link of chain.
  4. I guess I won't be launching my boat this weekend as previously planned.
  5. We had the first 200 at altitude (5700') on our lake back in 2010. The dealer said the 5.7 would be plenty. It wasn't. It was borderline at 34 on a 2000' lake with turn islands. It wouldn't pull 36. They tried re-propping it, re-programming the computer, and ended up swapping the engine out for a 6.0. Definitely go with the bigger engine!
  6. @dvskier Good to hear. My vision will be much improved as well. I'm looking forward to being able to see the 55's clearly again!
  7. @sixball ball For me it is to protect from water and impact to the eye following minor surgery. Apparently eyes heal quickly, so I think it will only be an issue for a short time. I have to stay off the water for 3 weeks post op, then can start skiing with eye protection.
  8. Thanks for all the input. While Bombers may be a long term solution, I think I am going to go the spex route that @Mark_Matis suggested for the first few months after surgery. As @oldjeep points out, goggles would provide more protection than glasses.
  9. I'm having an eye procedure in a week that will keep me off the water for 3 weeks, but after that I need to wear eye protection when skiing, at least for awhile. In an old 2012 thread, @wish and @skijay were saying the floating Bombers were the best. 5 years later, are Bombers still the way to go or are there new, better glasses out there? I will need them to be wrap arounds to protect my eyes from all directions. If anyone has any opinions on eye protection, I'd love to hear. Thanks in advance!
  10. Camaro Blacktech 2mm. Fits like a second skin and is very warm and comfortable.
  11. I heard it is/was supposed to open in October. My source did not know if that meant October 2016 or 2017.
  12. @Drago yes, 3 hours. I changed all sub buoy bungees from the anchor and secondary bungee and buoys. I was working solo and I based from the shoreline as it was early spring and no boat in the water. It was a tedious process.
  13. I'm using the 2mm Camaro Blacktech. It fits like a second skin, and when I get done skiing, sometimes my shorts are still partially dry.
  14. No surgeries related to chasing buoys.
  15. "This is the only sport when the later you go, the earlier you are"- Me Jason Parades had an awesome comment when I dropped after a pass attempting to do something (I can't remember what) he told me to do. he said "What are you Marco, dyslexic?"
  16. You are in great hands with the Mayo Clinic. They saved me in 2002 when things were not looking good. I know that you will win the battle. Good luck with your treatment regimen, and take comfort in the fact that you have many friends that you haven't met yet that are pulling for you, myself included!
  17. Agree with @UWSkier -Temps don't jive with a dry suite. But Eric, dude, buy a Camaro wetsuit. I spent 3 hours in 40 degree water, 50 air changing buoys, and was only a bit chilled. No need for drysuits anymore, except for extreme conditions.
  18. The fines are for doing "stupid" things, such as jumping off the platform without your handle, being too hungover to ski, etc. Not sure if it is still the case, but he used to donate all the fine money to local causes at the end of the season.
  19. Have fun! Who are the guest coaches this week? Say hi to Gordon and Gabriella for me!
  20. Marco

    Woodies

Found this at a second hand store years back. Not sure of the make. It has some pretty cool inlays. I haven't tried to ski on it yet.
  21. Great Lakes was my first experience with private water, and the experience was instrumental in motivating my friends and I to eventually build our own lake. Back in the late '90's, when the ski area in Telluride closed in early April, we would pack up the motor homes and head out to Great Lakes where we rented the 2nd lake for a week for a very reasonable rate. Even though the springtime wind could be howling, the water was always flat. We did that for several years, got some informal coaching from Rob, and even brought in Big G (Gordon Epling) in to coach 1 year. Great memories!
  22. Plus one on @ Brewski guards. I have one of his originals. He told me last fall that he would have a new, patented version out by Christmas, but haven't heard anything since. Hopefully he is able to get them to market!
  23. Since my back surgery 2 years ago, my back occasionally cramps up after a long weekend of skiing. I need to stretch more...
  24. Too bad we pulled the boats last weekend.
