  1. Wanting to get an idea if there is an interest in a group buy on Lumitec's SeaBlazeX underwater LEDs? Trying to get a group buy price from Lumitec but need an idea of how many people would order so post up if interested and I'll work on getting us all a price.

Lumitec came out with these a year or two ago and they've been performing really well - lots of positive feedback on quality and light output. These are kinda neat because they have some cross fading capabilities as well as strobe effects. Completely surface mount, completely self-contained: No external circuitry and no large through-holes.

If you're like me you can't swing $2000 for Shadow-Casters or Ocean LEDs

This would be the light for the group buy, comes in white/blue -- white -- Green and all the housings are brass. Lumen output is 2800 lumens (in white). For comparison the Malibu OEM underwater LEDs produce about 700 lumens. ** Edit: Could also get SeaBlaze3 or SeaBlaze Mini for group Buy.

  2. First off Bennett's usually (for the most part) take great care of their boats. They get serviced on the 100 hour mark without exception. I've even been a student there getting ready to take a set and they've stopped me and switched out boats because of the hour meter reaching its service time.

That being said I think they've had this 6L 190 around there for awhile and used it to pull several big jump tourneys. It may have been the one they had decorated up in Freddy Graphics for awhile.

And since this is a ski school boat you can guarantee 90% of those hours are hammer down with a jumper behind it. I'm sure its a sound boat but its most likely had more wear and tear on it than a private boat with 645 hrs.

  3. @Zman my 04 LXI doesn't have the Billet instrument panel that you're thinking of.

    Instead of this.

  4. While Malibu makes one of the best driving/skiing boats out there (IMO) from 2003 to sometime around 2008 they had serious quality issues with their billet aluminum. I knew this before I bought my 04RLXI, and suffered through last season with peeling emblems. This offseason I set out to fix that. Removed the emblems, took them to a local plating company and had them stripped and new chrome plating applied. Cost was $125, but quite a bit cheaper than buying new stainless emblems from Malibu or Bakes.

Here is the finished product with two coats of chrome sealant applied and ready to go back on the boat.

  5. Word of warning about Chee. He has been an institution on the Malibu Crew for years as the "guy" for Bu skins. However, over the last 4-6 months 10-12 members have sent money to Chee for skins and to date, Chee has disappeared with their money. Obviously there are alot of theories but our hope is its something medical and Chee is alive and well. But who knows, things happen. Several of the members are out $2500+ with no responses from Chee since summer 2014.

I wouldn't recommend going the Chee route at the moment.

  6. This is awesome! @JohnCox I understand your exact feelings skiing with Kris and Andy in the boat. I stopped by Fluid one day to catch a set. It just so happened Parrish and Nate were in the boat. I could barely breathe until that first pass went down. Bottom line, Andy, Kris, Nate, Chris... They're just people! They just happened to all run 41. :D
