  1. WHAT!?! We're supposed to ski AND learn?!?!?!?! At the same time?!?!?!?!
  2. ALang, I have an e-mail address on my profile (just click my call-sign), ping me if you're still looking for a ski, I think I have something for you. BillÂÂÂÂ
  3. That picture is cool. It takes a 'special' kind of person to get right up next to 6 ball like that just to get a picture.
  4. As good as the D3 is at supporting weight I don't think a 67" is the right size for 200lbs and 32mph. Today's skis are so light that there is really no penalty for being on a size longer than the manufacturer's chart. The longer ski will actually accelerate better off the ball and carry out better after the 2nd wake. These are 2 things that all of us can benefit from. If you're up for the demo that John was talking about ask for a 68.5" or even a 69.5" if you want to try the Custom X.
  5. Good thing you ski better than you drive Have you heard from the tribal elder (Ed) or is he still recovering?
  6. HAHAHAHAHA! That's hilarious! No such features on the loser cruiser. Tim and I ended up at Wally World getting CD's for the week's theme music. Something in English was a nice change of pace.
  7. Yes, I'll be staying close to the office for a while. I do heal quickly and Thank-you for the kind thoughts. It's not that big of a deal, I'm walking on it and hope to get one more run through the course with the help of Brad's duct tape job he showed me. One of my personal goals for the week was to try and get every ski into my PB rope length so I was planning on pushing it pretty hard. At that rate it was only a matter of time before something happened. I wouldn't have traded that week for anything. It was a blast! Great people, great experience, hope to do it again. BillÂÂÂÂ
  8. The official reading of the x-ray said "Grade 3 dislocation fracture." If you hadn't showed me how to tape that thing I'd never have finished the week. Thanks muchly, BillÂÂÂÂ
  9. Oh, just me and my stupidity. I had a mis-cue with a ski that I should have taken back to the dock briefly before pushing too hard. I don't know why they call this damn thing a walking cast, it's not like you can walk with it much less drive the truck. Oh well. When the pictures come out I'll be the one standing in the cooler with the duct tape in my hand.
  10. Good Job John! That's a lot of details to tie up and I thought it went very well. How hard do you think it would be to get the team back together real quick to sign my cast
  11. I ski on a Monza and I'm working on running 28-off cleaner (with a personal best of 2.5@32/34) I worked with the stock fin until I arrived at solid workable numbers and it worked fine. I switched to a 106 Redim and really liked that because after about 4 sets I realized that it virtually eliminated that occasional "hockey stop" off-side turn that I was trying to get rid of. It really smoothed out the pass and allowed me to progress. About a month ago I installed one of Steve's slotfins with the fixed 9 degree wing. I had been running 7 degrees until then so that was really the only feel difference I noted right away. After a month with it on the ski I have to say I appreciate it's simplicity. The wing is permanently out of the way for checking or changing depth, it's fast and it decelerates well, but most of all I think it's the improvement in this ski's symmetry that has caused me to leave it in. Ok, that's all the 1st hand experience I have. We have 2 members of our club that are riding Nomads with the slotfin and neither one of them has any plans to switch back. One is the white 2006 and the other is a 2007 RC. They ski into -38 and -35 respectively and rave about the slotfin on that design. The 106 Redim still holds my PB so I'm planning to go back before the season is out just to make sure I've got the right combination.ÂÂÂÂ
  12. John we appreciate both the forum and all the effort you've put into the IST 08. I am one of the many that used IST 06 and IST 07 to make the informed decision that put me on the ski I'm on and we're grateful.
  13. 2002 CDX 6.760" (jaws) 2.480" deep 0.925" dft (head of the caliper) 8 degrees upside down both boots 1 hole back (unless they're Approaches, those would go all the way back)ÂÂÂÂ
  14. eeewwwww...this thread went down hill quick
  15. Just got back in the country, e-mail on the way............
  16. Awesome! I don't envy you when it comes to interview time :) I'm guessing there are a hundred skiing animals out there like me who can go all day long, day after day, and would LOVE to get in on something like that. I'll be sure to keep an eye out here when you finally call for resumes.  GT
  17. Are you looking for a wide range of skill levels or a dozen or so folks who can use these skis to their high potential?
  18. Thanks John, I suppose it's possible (probable) that each "my ski has broken down" story gets so much press that it appears like much bigger of a problem than it is, that's why I come to places like this. For the record I'd include HO in your companies that have a great return policy. They have taken very good care of me personally and everyone I know that has had a problem (real or imaginary) with one of their skis. Thanks again, GT
  19. Thanks, that's what I needed to hear. I'm not stressing a ski as much as some of my peers who run into 38/39.5 daily, but I intend to before too long.
  20. Does anyone know if the MPD's manufacturing process is the same as the Monza: CNC'd pvc core "wrapped" in carbon? Dave Goode has been quoted in other forums as saying "the Monza is torsionally unstable" or "prone to breaking down torsionally" and I was under the impression that the MPD was put together in exactly the same manner. Obviously there is a massive conflict of interest in the statements, but DG is no dummy, can anyone talk about this? I ride Monzas (I have a 68" and a 69.5") and I love them. I've riden my buddy's MPD, love that too. Is this love affair with the Monza going to have an expiration date due to torsional instability?
