  1. My 2009 196 with 343 engine has been having trouble. It seems like a fuel thing to me. It will plane off get to 34, then lose rpm, bog down, some backfiring. It will run at idle no problem. It just happens at speed. I replaced the inline fuel filter and it ran fine for about 4 hrs. Then same thing. I checked the primary pump on the side of the fuel cell and it seemed to be OK visually. I replaced the filter inside the fuel cell also. Anybody?
  2. You have to have rules. Lot of members calls for lot of rules. Few members calls for a few rules.

I try to keep it to the bare minimum of rules though. At the end of the day, I want all my members to have as much flexibility as can be allowed and everyone still enjoy the experience. But you will always have members who don't jeehaw, you'll always have some who won't do any sweat equity, some will jump at the chance to pitch in, some are observant and don't have to be reminded of simple procedures(like being ready when their slot comes up on a crowded day) some even though they probably are well-meaning people, have to be told the obvious.

But usually, it seems like all of my members have something unique and desirable that they contribute to the big picture though...be it plumbing skills, totally dependable punctuality, very positive attitude, historic knowledge of the sport...whatever it may be they all have something.

  3. Shane, I will keep that in mind for 2012. I will keep running my 09 196 all this year. This will be my 10th season with one and it will be a sad day when it goes to another home. Takes me back about 9 yrs ago when I first got my lake up and running with the CB 196 hanging in the boathouse and a group of us talking and wondering how much longer those babys would keep coming off the assembly line. I guess the day finally got here.
  4. MattP, on second thought, you're right. Learning paragraphs is better than learning nothing at all.

I do need winter to hurry on outa here though. Seems like the older I get the longer it lasts.(that's what she said)

  5. From the standpoint of an owner of land that has a large pond on it with skiers being towed behind a 350hp boat, I have never been able to find anybody else to write a policy for general liability. Also, I have asked around to get an umbrella over the USAWS lake owner's liability and can't find that either.
