  1. A few of us on BOS have had small Whalers in our skiing journey. Age 12 to 17 this was our family ski boat. For younger skiers this had and still has ANY inboard beat for small wakes - so there was no intimidation factor ripping back and forth behind it. We taught dozens and dozens of people to ski behind it. I learned to step off barefoot behind it when I was 14. By end of high school i was big enough that it lacked mass and hp, but wish we still had it in the family now that there are grandkids coming along! 25 yrs later I owned a couple of Glastrons. This CVX-16 with 2.0L 120 hp was a lot of fun and helped me start recruiting friends to wake up early and go skiing.
  2. XC skate skiing, catamaran sailing, motorcycles - sport touring and offload, used to run a lot. My current snow ski and motorcycle buds are guys I met on the lake waterskiing.
  3. Made it to November here in MN and actually had a nice low-wind hour on the lake before dark yesterday. Air 49. Water 48. Cozy in dry suit, but hands are the weak link once they get cold and stiff. I think we’re done.
  4. Head as needed: Neoprene head band. Neoprene beanie. Full wetsuit hood. Hands and feet: nitrile gloves under ski gloves. Leave the gloves on, hands stay dry. But as another has said, small cooler full of hot water - I think works better than boat shower. Only has to be big enough to put both feet in after skiing. Soak hands before and after quickly returns them to functional temp. Cold weakens the grip and I think that is the biggest limiter in cold weather. (Low 40s air and water are about as cold as it gets in MN. Otherwise ice on lake.
  5. @UWSkier agree. And he had a red Bonnevile convertible B4 the Buick. Even nicer pairing with the Response.
  6. My buddy Jim always tows with his Buick. The 7.4L tows great, and it always makes me smile to see him show up with the top down on drysuit days. :)
  7. Cabin close up in ND this weekend. High temp of 36 today. Had my drysuit on for dock and lift chores so took a run. Water 50.
  8. On a 67” ive tried stock 30” 30.25” 29.75” and tonight 29.5” which (despite crappy- windy 45degree-drysuit-before-dark ski) finally felt like mine was coming alive. Thanks @mbabiash
  9. Early evening in MN. 45 air / 59 water. We’ve skied on through Oct and Nov many years..... this year I’m just not so excited about it.
  10. I ordered the original set. They came promptly and they've been super handy.
  11. Just sharing info. Take it or leave it. X5 is not a Helix, correct? Stock D3 for Helix 66" 29.5" 6.910 2.505 .740 flat 7/8 degrees
  12. I'm on a 66" Helix H1. Had some recommendations from @Skijay 3-4 yrs ago and I still love this ski. Bindings back 1/4" from stock to 29.25" DFT 6.920 2.485 .730 7 degrees I've been running 8 degree wing this season and it feels a bit more planted. This ski requires definite front knee bend/weight shift forward in the pre-turn and then the tip is down, full ski engaged for carving quick turns.
  13. @"Keith Menard" Ok, I guess a Buick GS stage 2 escaped getting the porthole/vent ports on the front fenders. Ford GT whatever, with a front hood scoop (it's mid-engine, get the point?).
  14. I sold a motorcycle a few years back and the buyer arranged for shipping with uship.com I had not heard of it prior, but the bike went from MN to TX. I met the shipper (private party with one-way space available) something I'd definitely look at if I was looking to move any type of vehicle.
  15. Kind of like portholes on a Buick. Non-functional gimmick (and I had a ‘17 Vapor for a while). My towel would snag on it when wiping down the ski. I told my ski buddy that it decreased tip-rise by venting the low pressure area that forms just behind the ski tip. He totally bought the story.
  16. @dchristman For that experiment did you mount your current bindings to the old skis?
