  1. Before we all get too crazy with our guesses let's remember that AWSA rules prohibit moving parts on a ski. TW
  2. Oh, so it's a picture puzzle! Well, the top deck looks like a really crappy job of molding, which suggests it's a prototype. The doohickey seems to have a waterproof access port of some sort and possibly some user input points that are partially obscured by the tether. The center "window" resembles a graphical user interface, perhaps a small LCD screen? Could it all be about Piezoelectrics?  I mean, why not? After all, they've been tried in everything else, from snow skis to pool cue shafts, so water skis certainly can't be immune... TW
  3. I'm guessing that doohickey has some accelerometers and other such gizmos and gimcrackeys inside. The binding, an O'brien Bio, is probably uninvolved (except to act as a safety anchor). TW
  4. Coming from the home of the world's most famous self-proclaimed "hockey mom" I can tell you that their saying is: "Old hockey players never die, they just achieve their final goal. TW
  5. What kind of exercise do you do on the shipping pallet? TW
  6. How well does the fleece beanie work when you auger in at the four ball? TW
  7. I hereby nominate Officer Friendly to be our big toe. TW
  8. "My favorite ski from the 80's was an O"Brien W.T. Comp. I wish I'd kept that thing - it had the cool aluminum top" The first year that ski was introduced it had a different name: the "Competition 6-38". The name suggested, of course, that you could run all 6 buoys at -38' - a feat that had never been done. Then BLP went out and did it (1980), and overnight the Competition 6-38 bore a name that suggested a limit to its capability - thus the World Team Comp was born. Same mold, same ski... but with Bold New Graphics!  TW<---- owned a Competition 6-38 and a World Team Comp... but not at the same time
  9. You have to have opposable thumbs and sight in at least one eye to make it work. TW
  10. "Twas ever thus.  I remember tournaments at Crescent Bar, WA in the 70's where the Goodman brothers (et al) partied late into the night and the next day the camping area near the shore was totally trashed with empties. That was unacceptable behavior, and something that we would never have condoned or participated in. We were too busy over at Clint and Jamima's tent... um, bathing in an herbal smoke bath (it was an old Indian tradition). Kids will be kids. TW
  11. www.photobucket.com The account is free and now you'll have a URL for any image you want to post. TW
  12. It's actually pretty easy to do if you have a URL for the image... and here's how: 1) click on the little "tree" icon (red circle in the image below); a dialog window will open 2) type the URL of your image into the uppermost dialog box (yellow ellipse below); choose insert 3) keep going and never look back TW http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n293/ThomasWayne_2006/BOSimageinsert.jpg
  13. Dave Goode, if he's going there... TW
  14. Personally, I like the idea of having the Elite fin block powder coated. No elbow-grease required, won't ever tarnish, and a lot of finish choices. If I'd chosen to keep an Elite that's what I'd do. TW
