  1. From the PP site. This was before ZO. Jumpers may still use it with ZO. The " Slalom Switch" The "Slalom Switch" is a very simple device that connects to the pylon of the boat. When the skier pulls the switch closes which tells the system that the skier is in the pull and additional throttle is applied. Throttle is reduced when the skier completes the pull and begins the turn. (The Slalom Switch" is the same switch that has been used in the Jump mode for years, except it requires a different rope arrangement for quick shortening.) What is the advantage ? - About six years ago, we started working with several top athletes including on a switch device that could provide a superior pull. It was obvious early on that the switch device was a significant improvement because it allows the speed control to apply more throttle in the pull and releases the skier earlier. The consensus is a pull that feels slower, easier and allows the skier to get wider. How does it connect ? - Simply take our standard switch (many PerfectPass users already own one for jumping) and feed our new rope attachment through it. Two ends slip over the pylon while the end with the carabiner connects to the ski rope. Line shortening is very fast and easy as the loop simply snaps into the carabiner What about the ski rope length ? - The rope arrangement on the switch measures 1/2 meter, which means that when the switch is used, your ski rope is 1/2 meter too long. The solution is easy, just remove a 1/2 meter section (either the 43 off or the 45 off from your rope.) Most of us will never use these lengths!! PerfectPass "switch ready" custom ropes are available from Masterline and Strightline Custom ropes. Do I need the Switch ? - You do not need to buy a switch if you are satisfied with the current world record software. While most tournaments will be running the switch, the skier will have the option of having the PX set to 0, or in the "Off Mode."The benefit of the switch is generally for advanced short line skiers, running 22 off and beyond.
  2. Brand new Perfect Pass slalom/jump switch with shock tube assembly. Unearthed this when (sadly) putting stuff away for the winter. Never used, so perfect condition. Figured I'd see if anyone here wanted it before posting on Ski-It-Again or other sites. Not real sure of a fair price, see it online for $250-$400+. If anyone has a good idea of it's value I'd appreciate the feedback. If a new installation, you will need the cable to connect to PP box, available from PP for about $12 plus shipping. Or for ZO, cable available from ZO for $13. Any interest, email or PM me.
  3. @kfennell I'm scheduled for surgery 12/3. Shoulder started going bad last August 2013.Tried to avoid surgery with extensive PT for almost a year, had significant improvement but not good enough for me. Now will repair an almost completely torn superspinatus, clean up capsule, bone spur, some bursa sac work maybe. Depends on what he sees while in there. Long bicep tore off in my sleep with little pain and coiled up about 5 months ago. Saw the doc and left it alone with no issues and continued to ski all summer. Told by my surgeon it is not needed and if I don't care about the bulge don't mess with it. Hospital For Special Surgery in NY. Saw two world class orthos, NY Giants and NY Mets/NBA. Both concur that surgery is the way to go for me. Most pertinent part of my story for you perhaps is that PT did not improve it enough even after a great amount of time and money. Yes, it got better and I could live with it the way it is, but why? I'm in my 50's, will only get worse and be a tougher surgery later. Key is the surgeon. Needs to have done a lot of shoulders. Get more than one opinion.
  4. Except maybe with the buoys lower..............those could hurt you.
  5. @webbdawg99, please do post an update of what transpires with the airline. Their name and how they handle your claim. Airlines need to be held accountable as much as possible. And for everyone, at any signs of damage, even what may appear to be only external damage, a report should be immediately made to the airline when you pick up your baggage, it adds major credibility to a subsequent claim after leaving the airport. And even if everything inside seems to be ok. Pain in the butt time wise but could pay off. We fly Delta all the time and so far have never had loss or breakage, (although several delayed ski bag deliveries), but did have an incident once with my soft roller bag, had huge footprints all over it. It had to have been walked/jumped/stomped on. Pretty hard for an airline to spin that as an "accident". Everything looked fine, but I reported it just in case. Turned out to be no damage, but the baggage office person said the report would have impact and would definitely be taken into account had I found damage later. Makes it harder for them to say the damage happened later or elsewhere. And I totally agree, Paul C is a first class guy.
  6. A year ago would do a set of 12 strict as part of my workout. Zero since shoulder injury last August. After a year of rehab with initial improvement but none in several months I'm heading to HSS in NY for 2 consults with the Giants and Jets ortho's. Need to know if surgery is a realistic option or am I going to have to live with it. Have been able to ski in a limited way but at my age I'm more concerned about long term effects. Getting older sucks enough without a disability.
  7. @ToddL‌, that link is to the 2013 results.
  8. Didn't wait for the motorcycles to pass, would have allowed the water to settle out way longer than usual for an advantage to Nate. Boat judge said they considered it for only a second and then continued as usual. Thankfully it didn't affect the outcome. Boat judge said after his 39 end drop in prelims Nate was chatting to her about random things, totally relaxed. Then just went and ran 41 off. Very cool customer. In the head to head final she said it was great to see both the young guys just having fun talking and enjoying the moment. Awesome performance by KC and Nate. Will be a shame if they aren't back at this site again next year.
  9. Everyone is enjoying the Malibu Open. Great conditions, great skiing.
  10. I'll be there. Look for me with my "D3" black Lab.........
  11. A big concern with someone very young and presumably small driving is if they are the only person in the boat and there is an accident/bad fall/unconscious skier are they capable of getting him/her out if the water and to medical attention? We are facing that issue on our lake now. An occurrence like that, even without a tragic outcome and our course would likely be gone.
  12. @Horton‌, you have a good life. Congratulations!
  13. That's very cool @Wish, and great sportsmanship. And let's hope that you get another shot next year, and that it's at WaterSki Atlanta. @OB deserves huge kudos for what he does. Looking forward to seeing the video.
  14. Yeah, he's human. And the water is a little funky (briny) down there.
  15. Just heard this: Nate just won tourney at Gordon's. Beat Asher in head to head. 1@41 for Will... 5.25@41 for N8!!!!!!!!!
  16. Rehab quickly and fully, and then stay healthy for a complete season to get back to where I was 2 years ago.
  17. @Than_Bogan: you have time to watch poker?
  18. @oldjeep, if allergic you may have been very lucky. Quite a few people die from bee stings each year. A crazy one was the guy snorkeling who inadvertently sucked a bee down his snorkle. Stung him in the back of the throat. Throat closed up and he died of asphyxiation before he could make it to medical attention.
  19. Duck to the shin crossing the wake, turned out ok. Also a big old goose flew into the line mid way and started to slide down it towards me. I threw the handle, didn't want to meet it. Both birds survived. Numerous hits of huge snapping turtles with both the boat and the ski fin. Makes a heck of a noise. No fun and several fins ruined. Came across one turtle that had been killed by a prop strike. More than 18" long shell on it.
  20. @SkiJay Wow, that is wild. Really glad no one was injured (pride doesn't count) and that it all worked out for you. I've seen alot of crazy stuff on Powell but never a tornado- and hope I never do. I just got back from Powell and didn't have my boat this time so skied every day behind a PWC just to stay in shape. Better than nothing..........next trip will have my 196 and a portable course again. Great that you are still houseboating too!
  21. Holy crap @SkiJay! Was that Lake Powell? What was the story?
  22. MandaK, I had a complete hamstring avulsion in July 2010, had the surgery two weeks later. You will recover fine, just takes time and rehab, don't overdo it. You should get back to close to 100% in time. I was back in the course just under a year later and skiing better than ever. Email me if I can be of any help, it's a difficult injury.
