I've got a video camera for this weekend; hopefully the videos won't be x-rated of the SkiDawg and his Elite.
-
Interesting as I just watched 5 videos of the dash of the Nauti.
36.7 was the speed for the majority. 36.6 once and 36.5 twice.
The speed is obviously elevated from 36.0 as you can see it creep then settle in.
The question is, how hard you pull out affect the + or - 0.1mph you want at the gates? is this enough to make a difference?
If you have the same consistent gate and practice it, it doesn't matter.
-
Theory:
No matter what method you use to get the boat to speed, Hammer down or gently ease in, the speed when the boat hits the gates will be exactly the same per boat/lake.
When the skier makes their move for the gates, the speed obviously drops but then quickly re-establishes itself. Once the speed is established, the boat will add rpm to get up to the pre-set gate speed. My 2007 Nauti it's 34.8ish and 36.7(?, I quit looking when I realized it was the same every single time regardless of skier).
The boat knows where it is in relation to the course at all times. It knows it has to be at the preset speed for the skier to turn in consistently.
A couple of iterations ago, the gate speed was 34.2 and 36.0 while SG was literally up to +1.0mph hotter. Now ZO is 0.6 (+/- 0.1) hot on the gates every time.
Take video of the dash with someone else driving is an option. The video doesn't lie.

Snap O the Wide Ride over in Mississippi. Granted the skier wasn't just running 28-32-35 casually either....
Any details of a 9900 breaking too in another region?

where is the "none of the above" button?
edit: I was supposed to be the first post but Roger got one in there.

In an ideal world, Engineering design is based on logic and innovation.
In the real world, Engineering design is based on a suits business model and strategic plans.
Either way, with all the questions in this thread, the answers are very straight forward and obvious. The truth is out there!

Two things.
Bruce's idea is as good as I have heard. Having the skiers rank skies favorite to least would really be the best/most clear assessment of the skis. You could break this down into "easiest to go on out of the box" and "I could reach a new PB on this ski". Of course if a manufacturer or two wind up at the bottom the list you will have some unhappy sponsors. This is not a gripe about the current test. Just an agreement with BB on things that could be done in the future.
Wasn't that what the previous tests actually did? Letting the reviewers review, publish their thoughts then have some background information provided from the manufacturers not the other way around.

Interesting reviews and ski test. It was like christmas.ÂÂ

Some people did what it takes to get to WPB and some didn't ;)
The new ride is SWEET. We've put 2 hours on it and pulled the same skier for 2 sets behind it. Did a Zero Off vs SG test/swap on the skier, hilarious results......
West Palm pics hosted on photo server. it says i am out of memory so I only uploaded two pics. If i can get more memory, i've got some sweet pics to share.

RS-1 Binding System
in Skis Fins Bindings
Posted
This weekend I saw the worst ski crash I have seen in a year; i thought he was going to be airlifted out. The skier was riding a RCX using the RS-1 boots.
He was at 32-off at 36mph, turned 2 ball and was pulling to three. The exposion was behind the boat and he released(?)or something. The boat immediately whipped around him to see what kind of shape he was in as his ski looked like it crumpled and boots/stuff was flying everywhere. Amazingly he was ok.
SkiDawg might have a real play by play as he was in the boat and the same one that had to fish him out of the lake.
