  1. @ntx @MS What I am getting at is introducing ''new'' skiers and spectators to the sport to make it grow. If you are getting 30 + local skiers to your tournaments thats great. But I'm guessing they are made up of mostly club members, kids of club members etc. Not new blood. The biggest complaints I've heard over the years regarding tournaments and newer skiers who tried to compete is the lack of site familiarization and only 1 fall / miss. Drive an hour or so to the tournament site, wait on a dock, boat pulls up throws you a rope, hit it and go, then fall or miss and you're done for a few hours. It can be an unwelcoming feeling for a newb or non club member. I think that culture needs to change but thats a club by club issue maybe.

The first tournament I skied in the early 90's was awful, not a sole talked to me on the starting dock, the boat hit so hard out of the hole I barely made it up lol, cleared the water from my eyes pulled out and fell on 1 ball, and my day was done. Took me a while to gain the nerve to go back. I think this happens more than not. Skied many tournaments since just to measure myself, but our core group has opted out and prefer to battle it out on our home lake and take as many passes and falls as we like, no pressure, no cliques, just laughs.

Just observations, don't really have the answers.

  2. @MS Every tournament I've attended there is more than enough down time during the events. Don't think it would be to difficult to squeeze in an extra fall per skier or minimum amount of passes, it's no different than stopping after every pass to shorten ropes for accomplished skiers. What if every skier ran down the line and had to shorten after every pass? I'm sure there would be enough time...
  3. I really don't consider any of the new ski tugs ''plush''or loaded up. They are already bare bones in comparison to ANY Wake / Surf boat that is out right now. The question is what are we paying for? They have minimal vinyl and seating, no storage, they are running smaller power plants, no ballast, minimal stereo systems ( maybe 4 speakers), no towers etc... So how can they justify the price tags on these new Ski boats? They are not 1 ounce better or more comfortable than any Ski boat in the last 15-20 years IMO. It really seems like the big 3 Ski tugs are just riding on the coat tails of the Wake / Surf boat market as far as price increases. The biggest evolvement in ski boats in the last 20 years has been Zero Off, thats about it. Correct me if I am wrong, just a frustrated blue collar fan of the sport.

    My 2 cents...

  4. The lake has definitely changed for the better last few years. We try to keep it a secret.

@Billbert the course is fair game, we used to battle with people in the early 90's but have found letting the jet skiers and fisherman use the area and make friends with them has meant less maintenance! We have the rec buoys out as well, great learning tool. Enjoy it!

Not many slalom skiers around our area.

  5. To start off I don't have any video right now but hoping I'll get some helpful little nuggets on here. I know my form is suspect, but I am having a hard time keeping my speed through the turn and getting hit when I reconnect with the boat. It happens mostly at the end of my offside turns, I can't seem to stop cranking the turn and losing speed, then getting hit and launched across the wakes. How do I maintain speed through the offside turn and reconnect with the handle without stalling or even stopping at the end of my turn? I never experience this on my onside. My average pass level is into 32' off at 34mph, but this happens from 22' off up the line. Could it be a fin adjustment as well? Any insight would be appreciated.
  6. What are thoughts on adding a small, single trim tab on the transom of an older ski boat to change the wake? I have played with weighting the bow and lightening the rear of the boat which seems to make the wake smaller / better, so I am thinking why wouldn't a trim tab help by lifting the transom at speed and lowering the bow? Seems like a fairly cheap way to go without adding weight to the bow. Has anyone played with this? Jody??

And upgrading to a new boat is not an option.

  7. Hey Ballers, looking for some help from any new Prostar owners out there... I am trying to find the measurements for the non skid seadek step pad on the bow lid. Can't seem to get any help from the dealers or seadek.

Need the approximate total length of the 4 pieces as well as the max widths. Looking to retrofit my closed bow...tf0i1jbh1ngh.png
