  1. The baffle in my Centek fiberglass muffler broke and created back pressure. Fuel pressure was 39 psi at injectors. Boat ran great. Only issue was hole shot and pulling up a 200 lb skier.

Small hose inside FCC holding the high pressure fuel pump is another weak link that can fail and cause a loss of power

  2. Tip for removing a difficult impeller. Instead of ripping impeller vanes off with needle nose pliers, use 2 paint can openers. Slip them in on either side of impeller and let the hooks grab the back of the impeller hub. Pull the impeller out.

Tip for removing frozen nuts or bolts, use 50-50 mix of acetone and transmission fluid. Way better than WD-40 or PB Blaster.

  3. If you have tried the above recommendations with no success. Inspect the fuel hose inside the FCC. The High Pressure Pump in the FCC is suspended on a 2.5" or so long hose. My fuel line had a crack in it and engine would hesitate at high rpm. Got progressively worse.

The Low Pressure Pump has a screen filter inside that may be partially clogged.

  4. Everyone needs to put this in the context of their own lifestyle. What is your primary insurance? Do you need a secondary and so on.

Talking about the medical coverage, USA-WS offers secondary medical coverage. It kicks in only after the Medical coverage from my Boater's Insurance is exhausted. The Boat-US basic boat policy includes $5,000 medical coverage (per person per incident). Family members receive $25,000 of medical coverage (per person per incident). See attachment. These limits can be raised for a small increase in premium.

If you are injured skiing, don't forget about filing through your boat policy. I don't see a deductible on my policy and I am no expert. Check with your agent.

  5. Boat US is the official boat insurance provider of USA Waterski. They have cost competitive boat insurance; the medical portion of my boat policy provided a hassle free payout on a ski injury.

You can get a 50% discount ($15) on Boat US membership dues by forming a group co-op with 5 or more members.

  6. The Radar Strada rope has nylon identification sleeves for rope sections from 15' off thru 41' off. The entire rope is the same color so the ID sleeves are useful.

@Stickman The switch section is attached between the 41' off section and the main tow line.

@dtm8119 I did not measure but it should have a nominal length of 55' not 60'.

I believe the new Radar rope is now called Vapor, hence the closeout on Strada rope.

  7. @thager When a ski flex shows an "off" number it requires a re-test. Looking at your 30# pre-load - the 125 and 128 numbers are too close to each other and send up a re-test flag.

The numbers on your 60# preload are consistent in the range of flex for the skis I've tested - mainly Radar, HO & Goode - no Razor.

I use 60# pre-load and record the initial reading.

  8. Maybe be different for you but for PP my version 6.4:

    Key On

Press Menu and ^ on PerfectPass display at the same time.

Next press ^ 2 times to get to engine hours.

My PP logged 575.5 hrs while the finicky display on the Teleflex Tach shows 629.3 hrs.

I asked PP about the difference and Aaron says PP only logs hours every 3 minutes so that accounts for some of the difference.

If you have teleflex digital display, you may be able to get a better display readout if you can take the gage apart without destroying the bezel. Add filler (with a piece of weedeater string or foam tape) to press on ribbon cable connection. I can provide more details if that is the gauge you have.

  9. Disclaimer -following info is from 10 yr ago.

The place to launch on San Bernard River is a public ramp on FM 521 bridge just south of Brazoria. River is deep - 15 ft in places. Go up river towards Sweeny TX and the water is not too brackish. Further down river becomes more brackish and wider. Occasional tug/barge traveled up to the Phillips refinery. Be careful when they pass. Very wind protected free skiing.

There is another ramp on the SB under Churchill Bridge FM 2611. The river there is very brackish.
