@A_B what diameter handle are you using?

 

I usually wear a medium glove and have fairly big hands. Due to the nature of this glove, sizing up will still work well and fit comfortable. The 2017 Vice glove has been updated and is an amazing fit and function glove.

I find most issues for the on side for rff stem from the gates. Id like to see u wider on your gate glide and to get into your stacked position from wider. This will allow you to establish more speed and angle entering the gates and give you more space with speed at buoy 1 so you can finish that turn with more angle and improve your approach to 2.

 

Also, what is your current ski set up? Boot location and fin set up?

 

 

I would go 68 Vapor. This would give you two options to ski on in your quiver. The Vapor is a blast to ride, turns on a dime, holds maximum angle, and is lightning fast. While the target audience for the ski is 34-36 mph, it works well at all speeds. It is very supportive and efficient on the water.

It sounds like to me that you are looking for a Vapor. The Vapor will give you a more aggressive turn and cut that works well for both the course and free skiing. If you keep your senate, you will have the best of both worlds. Let me know if you need help with sizing.

@Kiwicouple I would suggest a 68 Pro Build. The ski will be easier to turn at your hardest passes and will still be plenty fast to get you to the buoys on an early line.

I would go 66 @Shane. A shorter ski is easier to force a turn on but requires more energy from the skier to get out to the buoy. The Pro Build is a very turnable ski. I believe you will find it to be more forgiving than the 65.

@Stevie Boy the binding hole location on radar skis has not changed in 3 years. The issue you are having is that while all ski manufacturers have the same front hole pattern, there is no industry standard for where the boot is mounted on that standardized plate. This is not a radar issue, it just reflects how D3 chooses to mount their boot to the plate. I hope this helps clarify things.

@Andre As I wrote earlier, there are merits to going either way with sizing. Wish I had a more definitive answer but time/experience has shown me to be honest and humble about the matter.

@Zog I pm'd you directly but thought I would post here. At 195, you fall into the 68 size range. But because you ski at a high level, your technique is solid enough to run a 67. My gut is saying 67 for you especially coming off a Nano One which is rumored to be a slow ski that requires a lot of work (I have never skied it so have so clue). Sorry I can't give you a definitive answer....

@UWSkier I'm guessing you are on a 69. If so, slide that fin forward to around 0.76 and go 6.96 length. Should help ski feel better.

I suggest taking a few rides at these settings and then message me with things you are feeling and would like to improve. Everyone will end up needing a bit different set up and that is one of the real joys of this ski...its ability to be set up in so many different configurations. What works for @Horton may not be what works for @skidawg or others. Try not to get lost chasing random set ups.

 

Great to hear of each of your successes on the new Vapor. I really did not think any ski would get @OB1 off his previous go to ski company's products. Really cool. Glad so many of you are liking the ride!

One of the amazing aspects of this ski is its ability to be set up in many different binding and fin locations. This ability makes it very easy to set the ski up for all the differing skier techniques out there. Thanks for the kind words @OB1

@OB1 Great info. Thanks. I believe the correct grip really helps consistency into and out of the off side. Not sure if you all know this but I was reverse grip until somewhere near the 2000 season. Jason Paredes told me to switch to help my off side so I did and have never looked back. It will feel weird for some sets due to muscle development of a down or up grip (picture doing bicep curls with palm down then going palm up). Hang in there.

@OB1 glad to have you on board! What do you feel this ski gives you over your previous one?

@skibumm What size ski did you end up with? I'm sure we can get you set up!

@freeski41 pushing your boots forward makes the ski turn less. I suggest moving your boots back to the center hole on either size ski you end up riding. I'm sure there is a combination that will get that ski turning for you!

@skidawg runs my personal settings while @markchilcutt runs my suggested Radar factory settings. When I have someone try the new vapor, I have them start at the factory settings then work from there.

@skier413 the F1 would compare to the Radar Vapor which is Radars high performance ski. The Senate/Lyric is a great match for you at 26-28mph to learn course skiing and the Vapor is the ski you will want to be on as you increase your speeds and start thinking of shortening the rope. If you will be purchasing one ski for the long haul and are committed to skiing the course, I'd go Vapor.
