  1. What does everyone do with old broken handles and slalom ropes....I had about 6 older handles new in the packages and I think the age caused them to break after less than a month of use (some were commercially made some I made my own.

I also have a few slalom ropes that have one or two sections that started to fray and I am afraid of an injury.

Any ideas? Some of the handles look new but the rope broke right at the "V".

  2. This is why most courses in WI is rare...We put a course in and out and the DNR was out looking at it (somewhere in Waukesha county)...probing questions about how we "attached" it to the bottom I calmly told him we used "river anchors" which we did. Now most of the skiers from that time are either not skiing or moved on to better options...I moved to FL and solved the short season and no course available with out all the work. (BTW there was a permanent course in about the same location since 1973...why isn't that "Grandfathered")?

Wow high ticket fine...I didn't know that...Also we did try to permit the course and the DNR required a $5000 fee (Non refundable,) to "study wake damage to the shoreline".

  3. Oldmanskier, I see on page 61 of the manual also list Valvoline USA list multipurpose ATF as an acceptable trans fluid. For our Toyota made cars we use the 100% synthetic trans oil since some of the "world" oils don't last in the 2.4L auto transmission and AZ carries gallons for around $25.

dbutcher...I looked at that website but cannot get a cross ref to what I need...but not sure I have the correct numbers...it brought up a spin on filter (maybe for the engine?)

  4. I looked up the element and ZF3312199031 cost is $52.00 on E-bay.

The manual shows the driver's side has a 6MM Allen(hex) wrench to remove cap.

Since I paid for the 25 hour service and the 100 hour alignment it will be interesting to if it was changed. Oil changed in trans every 100 hours...comes out clean.

There is no place that comes up for a cross reference so far...?

  5. Hi All,

Looking at next season for a new ski and wanted more input on a Radar Vapor.

I am 5'8" 166# and not yet past 32 mph in the course...Will a 65" ski fit my body? Never planning on skiing at 36 anymore so 34 mph is my goal...I also plan to go to a Reflex front and Wiley's RTP

    TIA

  6. I had 4 404 releases on two trick skis over the years...Broke 3 in about 1.5 years...(I weigh 165 and don't do any aerials). Gave up on it and went to the 500...over 4 yrs later same 500 and many releases...no troubles now....I did lose the whole 404 on one of the breaks...must be a poor piece of hardware....
  7. How do trick and slalom ski set-up tuners get the rubber parts to pull down and catch on the acorn nuts?

After an hour my fingers were sore and the job is not done. I tried using quick clamps and wooden hand clamps to hold everything together. The screws I used were 1/2" flat head stainless steel, but I also tried 3/4".

Does anyone know or have pictures of a hold down fixture to clamp this down and make it an easier job?

  8. B) Great discussion...I sold my 1997 Malibu Eschelon in 2013 with 2900 hours...running as strong as the day I bought it, (Merc Black Scorpion 315HP fuel injection.) We left the engine running when we changed skiers, for the first 10 years we had it, (it was a promo boat.) I changed the oil most of the time with synthetic oil (50 hours), and it came out clean (not black.) The only issues we had was with electrical type things (engine hour meter module.) We did use the boat for kids skiing and trick/swivel for at least 2/3 of the pulls. Only really course skied with it the last couple of years.

We replaced the boat only to get a smaller wake and zero off control.

My ski friend (80 years old,) had better luck with his 1972 Mastercraft....31 years original engine and transmission!) His hour meter went out after 3 times around! It also was a promo boat from Tommy Bartlett's....His engine was the Ford Windsor 351 and mine was the Chevy 5.7L.

I wonder if SKIDIM or another engine re-builder house can chime in.

  9. Wow lots of info here. We stayed there at Easter 2014 and loved it. The skier on the lake is Andreas originally from Austria. Glad to ski with him and then had to have my wife learn to drive the course...worked out fine but my love was not comfortable with the short set up. We also went to Rini's and have been to Performance many times. The Crystal River and Homosassas Springs State Park is a great low key way to unwind too. Unfortunately this year Easter is booked.

Does Swiss include ski sets with rentals? Any other place similar to this?

    Looking for this Easter2015.

  10. Hi, yes Wisconsin is the show ski capital of the US with 31 teams...

But if you are looking to ski on the Milwaukee river in Mequon...then email Todd Weber:

    tweberjjski@gmail.com

There was a course on Sinissippi Lake in Dodge County.

And a few of us that put in portable courses...I'm on Nagawicka 25 miles west of Milwaukee.

  11. Hi,

I just bought the last 5 of these skis, taking a chance that they will be as good as they stated.

I do see that half of them are HO pattern and the other two are D3 pattern, (one was set-up for the Fogman's)

Yes, now that I have them any help with getting fins and clamps for a reasonable amount?

Also how about set-up numbers? All the skis I have are the 66" size.

I plan to keep one as a "buddy" ski and the other for a back up with the FM system set-up.
