  1. @WIskier Before installing it the first time, we put one of the arms together on the shore. After that, it was pretty simple. A cross wind can make it a bit difficult. We have the drive use a paddle to keep the boat facing straight while we extend the arms. Install is now about 25 min.
  2. We install and remove our EZ-slalom course every week. Works really well.
  3. When it comes to skiing, gotta plan early. Has anyone been to the waterski place in Cancun? I think it's very close to the ClubMed. Can anyone give me the down low? Thanks.
  4. Will there be a version 2.0 demonstrated this year?
  5. Hmm.checked.. no boating restrictions I can see.
  6. Just booked a cottage on Oxtonge Lake for the end of summer. Anyone skied there before? Anyone skiing in the area? It will be our first trip there. I hope to find a quiet corner to slip our course in for the week.
  7. I spent a few hours installing the FAE, ran with it a few times then removed it. Maybe someone from BOS is using it now. I didn't notice much difference with the hole shot, but the wake was a mess. Also, it didn't seem any quieter.
  8. Moomba last changed the Outback hull in 2003 or 2004. Now it's very similar to the Malibu LXi. I ski 15 to 28 off and sometimes try out 32' off. I can't tell the difference. The biggest factor in the wake is the amount of weight in the boat. The price of the Outback makes it great for people who want to get their first ski boat.
  9. Good video. I can certainly relate...I've been skiing for 30 years, but only discovered the course 3 years ago. I am only slightly less beginner than you, but definitely a beginner. My suggestions (ie, things that worked for me): First, as RichardDoane said, slow the boat down. When I get my friends started in the course, we go at 26 or 28mph. Second: Spend some time pulling on a rope on dry land. Attach it about 2.5 feet off the ground, grab the handle and practice a lean. You should have straight arms with elbows on your hips, shoulders somewhat towards the boat (tree, light pole, etc) and your weight even on both feet. Get to know this position well so you can feel when it happens behind the boat. Third: practice this position pulling away from the wake first. Then, when you feel a difference, try cutting across the wake in this position. Finally, post lots of video and you will get lots of advice.
  10. Possibly the funniest ski video I've seen.
  11. Almost 41. The older I get, the better I used to be.
  12. Never mind...if you click through the the sale site, you can get a high res picture.
  13. Can you put links on the pictures on the Swag page so I can see them in higher resolution? There are few items I would like to have a closer look at before buying.... Need something for my back yard ski team. Thanks.
  14. The whole concept was Chuck's. I was in the boat with the video camera. I thought he was crazy.
  15. Number of important pointers about skiing I have read on BOS: 2658 Number of important pointers about skiing I can think of while turning in for the gates: 1 (if I concentrate). And therein lies my struggle.
  16. Got the same email! So, hopefully skiing on the weekend after the 14th. Key to early season skiing is a good wetsuit and yellow rubber dishwashing gloves to be worn under your regular gloves!
  17. It looks like fun, but I would sure miss driving and riding in the boat and just hanging out on the water.
  18. One day I noticed that I often feel little stressed as I leave work for the ski lake. I couldn't think of anything at work causing this until I eventually realized it was not work. I had performance anxiety for my upcoming ski set. WTF? I love skiing. When I know I'm skiing that day, I spend all day fantasizing about my upcoming trip to the lake. But there has to be some deep personality defect that pushes me to chase buoys. I have one friend who is content to ski at 30mph and 15' off every time for the last 10 years. I think he's crazy and missing the point. Maybe I'm the crazy one.
  19. The only limiting factor to our skiing was how much our frozen Canadian bodies could take. Skiing was not rushed at all. BTW, I used a pull up bar for about two weeks beforehand. I think it helped.
  20. We have used our EZ-Slalom course in a 50' deep lake a few times without too much trouble. You have to have a 4:1 ratio of depth to anchor line length. Also, you should have at least a 4:1 ratio of depth to marker buoy line length. This is important for straightening the course out in deep water. To be clear, the anchor lines go from the anchors to the gates. The marker buoy line attaches to the anchor and has a floating bouy to help you remove the course. Make sure there are weights on this line, so the rope will not be hit by the prop. If the water is 50' deep and the marker buoy line is > 200' then it should be pretty easy to use this line to tighten the course. This will allow you to drag the attached anchor without lifting it too much out of position.....Does that make any sense at all?
  21. Thanks to everyone for looking at my 28 off pass and providing insight. All of these comments are worthy of close study. I'm very motivated to make 28' off a routine pass, not a freak accident. I will have to make some of this stuff work to have a chance at 32' off. Why? Cause it sure beats workin'. I was going at 55k (34.2mph) with Zero Off set at B2. (Like that made a difference http://www.ballofspray.com/vanillaforum/js/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif). Bud Man, if I have a skier to emmulate, might as well aim high. I would go with Jamie Beauchesne. We are both left foot forward..and that is all our skiing has in common. I did a side by side comparison with my 28' off pass and JB skiing. That's what prompted this thread. The comparison looks like two different sports. Brent, your advice is sound. Paul Roberts at Summerski (summerski.ca) is always telling me to be more patient at the turn. BTW, if you are ever in or near Toronto, come ski with us. Horton, I can do what you say pulling against a tree. This summer, I will try and do it behind a boat. (And I mean that in the most polite way possible). Tuney: from your mouth to the god of skiing's ears. Now, I'm off to get a hair dryer and a long extension cord to liquify my lake.
