  1. "I am not sure there will ever be a product that will prevent an ankle or foot from being broken when you center punch a buoy at 38 off. I could be wrong." I agree. Friend of mine broke his foot with a Wiley front and rear toe plate by running over a buoy.
  2. TW, we did it for a while. I'll say it probably helped some, but is not a cure all. I ran over them 3-4 times. Once it still threw me pretty good. The other times I barely felt it. Another club member hit one and took a nasty fall. Sprained his ankle pretty bad. The thing we didn't like about them is that they buoys floated around too easy. There was just not enough upward force to keep them in a reasonable position. In a minimal wind, you could look from shore and see they were out of alignment. We started with just over 1/3 water. Then went to just about 1/4 which helped. Decided to go back to just air after a while. Maybe we just need to work out a different anchor system.
  3. Yep, mine is crazy. I let a friend try it for a few sets. I then mounted my boots to it and just started riding it. Skied amazing! It wasn't till 3 weeks later that I bothered to measure it. Pretty shocked at the settings. It definitely works though. I'm early and wide at 38.
  4. I've tried it with not much results. 37off = easy. 38off = still difficult
  5. Mine are a bit extreme, but work well. Got a PB in my 2nd tournament with it. 6.990tips, 2.515, .729, 29 3/8 with hardshells on a 66" Experimented with different settings, but kept coming back to those. It also seems to like less wing. I'm at 6*
  6. Depends on how much angle you create. More angle = more speed = earlier edge change I get a fair amount of angle. At 35 I'm starting my edge change behind the boat. With knees bent, my ski works underneath me and behind me as it changes edge. If you are more traditional style, the edge change will generally be later and slower.
  7. I'm with Tadd. I had an OS System baggy suit for years. Kept me perfectly dry, but skiing in it sucked. Actually drove me away from skiing in the winter. Got the Assault Hybrid last year and love it! I like the freedom of movement up top and streamline fit below. Now I don't mind skiing in the cold.... much.... Good to know about the O'Neil seals. Mine are still perfect, but I'll keep it in mind. Last time I replaced the seals in my baggy it was $150+. dave
  8. My vote would be for an X5 (I think '06 was the best year). Extremely stable ski with a huge sweet spot. I was on one for 3 years before switching to a Z7. The X5 made up for a lot of mistakes.
  9. I think we have a great site for this event. Only down side is that it is relatively new and not well known yet. We are 10 min from a large metro area and 20 min from downtown Richmond, Va. I'd like to invite some of the BD skiers and/or committee members here next year to check it out. If anyone's interested, let me know. Here is a pic the morning of our last tournament (Little Dawg tour stop #4) just a few weeks ago. davehttp://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y2/clemsondave/skiing/IMG00010-20090913-0807.jpg
  10. Anyone have insight as to how to put in a bid for a BD event?
  11. The computer should do it as Brent described if you are in calibration mode, now that you are close. If it doesn't, just add the recommended rpm changes manually.
  12. Manually edit/input the RPM's (manual should show how to do this), then go back and do the calibration again. Put in apx 3275 for 32mph, 3475 for 34mph and 3675 for 36mph. I have seen this happen on a few boats. No guarantee that's what's going on with yours, but worth a shot.
  13. What is the RPM setting for each speed? I have seen that if the base RPM is really far off, it will get confused. Like if the 32mph RPM is set around 3600+rpm. What boat/engine?
  14. lol, this is too funny. We skied yesterday and I got 2.5 at 39. Was wide and early and felt like I could easily run it. Another guy ran back to back 38s. We then, much to our disappointment, found the extra switch section.
  15. I hear what you are saying. It definitely is a mess. If we do it that way.... what happens if the club boat breaks down? what if the club doesn't have a boat (ours doesn't)? If others bring their personal boats, how do we compensate them? Not disagreeing with you, just asking more questions. The promo program plays a vital role in our sport. Maybe we should adapt changes (like some you suggest) that better supports those people.
  16. Scarlet, you need to add html code for the spaces. It is... br surrounded by the greater and less than signs. I agree with ya'll. I have only heard of two 200's being ordered from promo guys. We will probably see more 196's in tournaments than the 200. Unless I sell my 196, I don't think there will be one from NC to Maine. At the same time, i now understand where Boody is coming from. He just wants the best deal he can get. I sent him and email, apologized for the misunderstanding and hopefully we are cool.
  17. Well Mike,I (and other people you contacted) took offense to your emails. You claimed you were waiting for a "smoking" deal and that I should contact you if my "situation" changed. What "situation" would that be? If I lose my job? If I declare bankruptcy? If I need to put food on the table? Your email offended me and all I did was suggest you change the wording of it. I never insulted you (go back and read it). In fact, I wished you good luck in finding another boat. If you took offense, then I apologize. I did say that these "smoking" deals are hurting the promo program. That is 100% true. Other than that, you read way too much into my email. I was simply suggesting you change your wording so as not to upset anyone. My price is NOT firm. You never came back with a counter offer. However, it is the least expensive '08 Limited on the market so I'm not going to come down much. In fact, it is priced less than many of the '08 SE's out there. So, my boat is the exact match for what you are looking for and is the least expensive one on the market (that i know of). But if it's not a "smoking" deal in your opinion, then so be it and I truly wish you luck finding that right deal.
  18. No kidding! I spent a ton of $ on that cover thinking I would keep it from boat to boat. Then the 200 comes out.....
  19. I'm on the east coast but it is that exact match, not sure if we have spoken. Selling pretty darn cheap so might be worth your while to ship it.
