@Horton PLEASE STOP THE SKI TESTS, my wallet cannot keep up with this, I owe the IRS, my parents, the bank, my girlfriend, people I don't even know and now I want a new ski! How can I even start to justify this?? Who the heck cares, I'm going to demo a Quest. Damn you Mr Horton!

Great thread as I sold my '04 (damn) and am now looking for a replacement. (97 - '06 range). Considering a '98 and was curious about the wake differences between my '04 and a '98? Have buds that ski 28 @ 15 off, 30 @ 28/32off and 34 @ 15off so concerned about wake/bump at the slower speeds & longer line lengths. I feel from what I have been able to research, the '98 should be a great replacement for me at a pretty reasonable price. Thanks for any input/advice on this guys.

Ballers, I have a portable slalom course that I have never used. I received it from a friend and frankly don't know if it is all there or complete. I do not have any (ok, I know where this will go) balls or the end anchors, it is a poly main line and the telescoping arms seem to funtion as they should. I am in the Tacoma WA area and any baller in the area is welcome to come get it for free. Hopefully someone can make this work and use it. Let me know any interest.

Question on the "Most skiers like the characteristics of more angle on their off-side turns, and less angle on their on-side turns." Has anyone (Schnitz, and I know this should be directed to him on "his" forum) but has anyone tried/made a wing that could be set at different angles on each side and would this have any effect on the off/on side turns. Like a slotted front wing hole that allowed different angles on each side? Stupid question or thought?

I can't get the slogan out but what does BOS mean, at least IMO, that no other ski forum provides:

 

1. Sound advice for improvement

2. Encouragement for same

3. Objective points of view on techniques

4. NO BS or adversarial posters or commenters

5. Humor

6. True passion for the sport

 

Too much for a slogan. It's like "BOS-Swerving at its best" or

"BOS-the best way to more BALLS"

 

Soak mine in a bucket of bleach for a day then lightly scrub w/ nylon brush, rinse off, hang dry, towel off and paint with krylon. So far, no chaffing, blistering or rash. We are talking slalom balls here aren't we????

BOS - My "LEGAL" fix

I have a Boost and only wore it a year, then moved to the Wileys below and like it much better, fits better and less bulk/drag, have three years on it and is still in great shape. I have also skied in my neighbors BARE Ultra (from Grizzly Sports below) and really liked it, liked it better than the Wiley and way better than the Boost, very comfortable. My next will either be the BARE or an Eagle. It is probably a personal preference but definately consider the BARE or and Eagle. In WA and we ski year round so comfort and staying dry are important.

Just like Ed, live on public lake for 14 yrs. Good thing is our lake has a very small, no parking, pretty crappy launch so keeps most "non-lakers" off. We have a permitted course on the lake but as Ed says, it's at dawn or forget it. Either a "wally" or "bayliner" will come out soon after, fishing or towing a tube, and then there's the wakeboarders the rest of the day. Also only get 4 continous passes before the reverb comes back into the course, then a 15 minute or so stop before next set. Not like private lake skiing but still pretty dang good considering it's a public lake.

Steilacoom Lake Ski Club (Lakewood), in fact we just got finished skiing, what a great day! You in the area?

Our small three person "ski club" agreed to drysuits from Nov 1 to April 30 and May 1 to Oct 31 is no more than shorts and rash guards regardless of temps. This is in the Seattle area and usually we are hovering in the 50's water andlow 60's air by May 1. Sometimes you just gotta man up!
