over the years there have been a few individual athlete deals with non-traditional sponsors. Andy had a deal with Rolex. T-Gas did a 5 Hour Energy commercial. On the other hand, we lost a couple of named tour sponsors over the years. Even Mastercraft dropped sponsorship of the pro wakeboard tour.

It amounts to personal preference rather than a concrete decision tree. Coming from rtp, the hrt will feel more familiar. I honestly doubt that you would have much of an issue going to either. It seems that people have much more difficult time going from a rear boot to rpt.

Don't have a picture on the boat but Max joined the family this summer.

At some point he put up a video on instagram of him buying aluminum angle to cut up into brackets and mounting his boots.
Pretty much a demonstration of how you can still get hurt with both feet in. Now, we have no way of knowing if a releasable setup would have prevented or lessened his injury.

We know what he was charged with, and we know what he was found guilty of. We will never 100% know his intent. Only Chad really knows.

Loved the mention of Patrice Martin. I always thought of him as that skinny blond kid that always was going back and forth with Cory Picos for the trick record, the all of a sudden he was grown up guy who could slalom and jump....holy cow, a 6 time world champion!

@Horton great piece. I am one of the subscribers to (in part) the private lake theory.
I can vividly remember being 5 or 6 years old and watching the cool teenagers on the lake slaloming behind a tri-hull and absolutely aching to try it out.
The other piece of the puzzle in my opinion was the clamping down on permits for slalom courses on public waterways.
On the public lake where I have a cottage, in the 1970's there were two slalom courses and a jump. Now there is nothing.
Ironically, there have never been more inboard DD ski boats. Now, there are also a ton of surf and wake board boats.
I find the whole topic fascinating, good job on the write up.

Curious about the effect of flex. I would think if we were to compare two skis that were exactly the same except for flex that the softer ski would turn better. In other words, if the ski bent into an arc during the turn, it would seem to help the turn.
Or would it?
If the turn was just a carving action then the answer would be yes, but we know that the tail needs to slide more or less depending on the skier.
For example, when I watch Nate turn his onside, he seems to make the tail slide rather abruptly arriving at hook up very quickly. We know that he uses a 67 inch ski and likes a long/shallow setup. It seems that he achieves that Z type turn overcoming any disadvantage from the longer ski, then immediately receiving the advantage of a longer ski at hook up to moving across the wake.
I have always thought that the women ski on proportionately longer skis for their weight. I have no data but they are often on 66 inch skis at 120, 130 pounds or so...
I wonder just how much the pro skiers who have factory support, experiment with different layups of the same ski before they settle on their choice?

One of the cool things about the etec engines is that they have a winterize mode that enriches the gas/oil mix to coat the intake and cylinders. Since outboards drain the water out by gravity, that's all there is and you are all done in a few minutes.

@bananaron I had a Hydrostream V-King with a 150 merc back in the day, hydraulic transom and a nose cone with low water pickups. It was a very fun boat!

It's interesting in couple of ways. First thing is that they have a prototype that they have put 350,000 km on. Secondly, that the "fuel"/ electrolyte is a liquid makes building infrastructure to support rather simple.
On a thread on BOS some time ago (sorry can't remember which one) where we were discussing battery technology, @Than_Bogan made the point that It is difficult to anticipate breakthroughs because nobody has thought of them yet.
The part I find particularly interesting is that the "gas" tank is essentially the battery.
Another thing that holds promise is that existing service stations require little modification to be able to provide the bi-ion fuel. Just a change to the pumps and nozzles.
