  1. I vote false.

Only because the analogy doesn't work.

Skiing without bouys, free skiing, is like golfing without keeping score.

This thread came at the oportune time. Until last night I would have voted yes. But, we went night golfing last night.

While free skiing is very much like going to the range, for a lot of people it reinforces bad habits like the range does for high handicapers.

Night golf will show you in an instant your swing faults.

There is no skiing analogy to night golf.

  2. Been using Brenda's for a few years now, never have had a twisted rope.

Another helping touch is to never coil the rope until done for the day: or at all if possible.

When the skier is finished we reel in the rope and let it pile on the floor, leaving the handle on the seat. As the next skier goes, he grabs the handle, out the back, rope feeds out.

Never have had a tangle using this method. Not once.

  3. Ok I'm this close to drinking some orange/black or probably the white/black kool aid. After reading this and other threads.

    Currently on a 2011 68" Strada. Into 38 at 34.

    Any Goode ski suggestions welcome.

    How do you do this?

" Still ended up on my 9900 Mid after 3 weeks on the Nano and ended up at 29.375 after riding it at 29.50 and 29.25. My next try will be a 65" Mid Nano with NO twist to see if it is faster then my current setup."

Are you purchasing all these skis, or do you get to try before you buy?

Is there such a thing as an end of year sale at Goode that I should wait for?

    thanks

  4. For me it's all feel.

I've tried to type an explanation several times, and keep deleting and retyping.

All I do is watch the boat. At a certain time, as the boat approaches the gate I pull out, then as it gets closer I turn in.

For me it's always been about turning in at such a time that I can just nick the inside of the right entrance gate. No matter what length I'm skiing. Guess what I'm saying is the turn in is more important to me than the pull out. This is just for me, I am in no way an expert or anything close.

This has helped me over the years with this problem...

"I realized this weekend that part of my inconsistency in the course is due to where I end up at 1."

  5. We ski an area a lot like Ed mentioned, two back to back courses. Has always been this way for me. Neither has the 55's. Skied a course with the 55's last weekend. Every pass I was early trying to use them.

Went back to just watching the boat and ignoring the 55's.

Skied much better, better gate, better rhythm.

Guess I'm saying, try timing your pull out/turn in by the boat.

I could never get used to the line up with 5 ball or 3 ball or whatever, mostly because I have a hard time seeing that far.

I've just found using the boat is the most consistent method for me as the line shortens.

  6. Using a Brenda model as well. Used the same one all summer last year. Some fraying towards the handle section.

Around 3000 balls on last years model. (like this measurement stick)

My current version just arrived last week.  Got another handle as well, have a back up, for the back up boat now.

  7. Same here.

Size 10.5 - 11 depending on shoe. Ordered size 11 Strada's. First two weeks or so, seemed a little tight, too short on the front binding.  Did not do the heating procedure as the local shop recommended against it since I had been using them for awhile. After about a month they were a lot better.

Going to try an insert in the front binding to see if that helps out this year.
