  1. Last October I had the month of a lifetime. Ran 38 every set I skied, sometimes more than once. Weather was warm and calm - skied almost every day! This October, well, I'm just happy to be skiing! I'm back to riding my Mapple 6.0 after a year on the 16 Vapor. Ski just suits me - so smooth, early and easy. Just running a bunch of 32 off and enjoying the ride.
  2. the folding seat is actually awesome. Very easy and you can have it up or down at your choice. If you don't need the seating space, leave it down all the time and it is a standard walk over. I put mine up when I ski, and down when I wipe the boat. Works great.
  3. @SkiJay -- interesting. All of my setups have been done in colder water. Pretty much the warmest it gets in MN lakes is mid-70s. When I go to warmer water it feels fine. As an example, last year I ran 38 off in Florida one day in October, the very next day ran it in MN in a drysuit - no changes to setup and they both felt similar to me. Water temp difference was more than 20 degrees.
  4. I love my 2015 ProStar. I owned a 14 with the 5.7, the 15 has the 6.2. Other than that the boats are the same from an options standpoint. However, even though MC (I asked the CEO) says that they haven't changed anything since 2014, I can tell you my 2015 is tighter and drives better than the 2014. I suspect incremental improvement continues, as is true with Malibu, and CC, I'm sure. Anyway, congrats on your new boat! I'm approaching 300 very happy hours on mine!
  5. I have not done the course on jumpers, but have done some open water cutting on them. What I can say is that skiing on jump skis (if you are cutting hard) is an incredible amount of leg and core work, but in a different plane than slalom. I bet it would be a good way to cross train.
  6. If you need to ski early (which I do), install a Fresh Air Exhaust. I loved the sound of my Prostar 6.2L, but it is worth it to have the FAE to keep the rest of the folks on the lake happy. From directly behind the boat all you hear is the water splashing off the hull - zero exhaust noise.
  7. sometimes rope lengths also have a bearing on ski sizing, particularly if you are a tweener. If you ski longer/slower speeds, going up one might be better (at least that was true with my Vapor in 2016). If you are at 34/36 and skiing 38 off, shorter might be better. I'd put that question to @twhisper.
  8. I agree with @6balls -- great weekend! Thanks to Chad and Dan for bringing boats! We can't ski without them! I was not at all consistent, but happy to put three of my six weekend scores into 38 off with a 1.5, 3, and 3.5. Given that I've hardly skied, have not practiced any 38s (and not many 35s for the year either), I was satisfied to just be able to ski all six rounds. That's a wrap for me on the smallest ski season I've had in 20 years. For now, back to the gym, one more month of chemotherapy, and then we watch and wait. Thanks to all for the encouragement, prayers, and positive thoughts! You are all the best!
