  1. @thompjs

I should have stayed to watch. Seth must have upped his game later in the day since I was barely able to avoid two OTFs in my second set.

It was a great morning! Thanks for allowing me to join you all. Seth is a great coach and y'all aren't too bad either. :)

  2. Braintrust - I have a friend in the market for a 2013 Malibu wakeboard boat. I am happy to report that he has no plans on using it on our home lake, but I wanted to see if someone here can message me if they have any experience purchasing a 2013 Malibu. The asking price on this boat is around 100k. Yikes! If you have any experience purchasing one of these monsters, please message me. Thanks.
  3. If you are having problems, definitely check your RPM signal and whether it needs to be inverted. I was having several inconsistent times with stargazer and zbox on a 2004 Mastercraft. I ran the RPm test as outlined in the book I realized that I should invert my signal. once I inverted the signal, everything fell into place
  4. I have an 2004 mechanical throttle mastercraft 197. I had very inconsistent times with z box until I ran the rpm test and realized that I had a dirty signal from my tach and it was causing the rpms to bounce. I inverted the rpm signal by changing a setting and now it works like a charm. Try the rpm test in the manual. Obviously, changing the exhaust should not be related to this, but perhaps the rpm was inadvertently inverted or the change you made to the engine has exacerbated a problem that was present before the exhaust upgrade.
  5. I am just piling on here, butI have both the playsport and the gopro. If you are trying to make cool movies with unique perspectives, get the go pro. If you are trying to video your skiing from the boat to improve your skiing, do that @kelvin and said and get the Zx3 refurbed on ebay. They are super cheap and they take great video. I think I paid less that $50 for mine, but I had to add a larger memory card. I think these two cameras are about the coolest recording devices I have ever owned. They are so easy to use and both take great videos.
  6. The radar apps freezes on me. Recently, I rolled my own using "Tap Forms LT." This is some sort of database app for the iPhone. I just created a form that has the following.

    Date of Set

    Start speed/length

    Finish speed/length

    Finish buoy count

    Weather/Water Temp

    Notes

Most of the fields are just a check box for the relevant data such at 34/15, 34/22 and so on. This way I can log my info with minimal effort and keystrokes. If anyone wants the template, please just PM me. You can purchase the app and then use the template. So far so good.

  7. @vegar. I just mounted some Strada's with double plates. I was scratching my head when trying to figure out what to do with the little metal horseshoe shaped bracket for the back plate.

Also, I was not really sure what to use as the reference point on the front plate to measure to the back of the ski. In other words, I would not figure out what to use for the "heal" reference? After searching around, I decided to measure from the point where the back of liner (at Achilles tendon) meets the bottom of the liner because I figured that was the back of the front heal. If you are mounting your Strada boots on a Strada, you might try these base setups. Radar gave me these settings.

    Matt Rini suggested:

    29.5" front heel

    6.850

    2.505

    .75

    Rossi suggested:

    29.5 front heel

    6.840

    2.495

    .77

Good luck with your new bindings.

  8. Placing a counterweight on the ski's is clutch. I did not do it and I totally regret it. If you do not have the weights, the boom is impossible to use because they kids can't keep the skis in front of them. Now I just need to figure out where to get dive weights that I can rig to fit on the back of the ski.
  9. @crashmand and @Horton. I think someone needs to create a guide/plan on how to get into shoreline and publish it on the internet. There is plenty of commentary/instruction that allows a skier to pick up a length or two who is already into shoreline, but this addresses what BOS already has . . . the hard core short line audience. You have built first class that can't be rivaled at this point, but it primarily focuses on short line. Keep in mind, I am not criticizing the site. I am just trying to suggest a way to increase your users/viewership.

To increase your users/readership, I think someone should write and article(s) on how to get from 15 off to 28 off in x weeks/months. There is plenty of information out the net that applies to near pro level skiers. If someone would focus on information geared towards the newer or more novice course skier we might grow the sport. If you help people get better faster, then they just might keep skiing.

I think there is a faction of lake rats out there that want to learn the course or have learned 15 off, but they do not know what to do next. They do not know how to go from 15 off to 28 off. In fact, I know of several guys in the Austin area who have given up wake boarding because of their age (mid to late thirties/forties) and they have not taken the time to advance through the course because they do not know how to do it.

I am not trying to say that getting into short line is easy. . . we all know that it is not. But if content is provided that makes people believe they can do it and it shows them how to do it, they will keep skiing and your readership will increase.

    Just my two cents.

  10. @Texas6, Please keep us updated. I have a blue '04 197 on the west end of the north lake. I have been thinking about doing the upgrade, but have yet to pull the trigger. - Bryant
  11. I am sure the brain trust here can help. I have PP on an 2004 boat. It is the version that came with the boat. Not stargazer. If I change the battery (it is getting weak because of it's age), will I lose all of my PerfectPass settings? If so, is there a way to prevent this from happening? I really do not want to re-program it. I'd check the manual, but I have no idea where it is located.
