  1. If your ok with red THE best spray paint is Krylon Fusion for plastics. They show a plastic deck chair half painted on the can. The paint is made to expand and contract with plastics. The floecent orenge you used will not and tends to fade and flake off after a while. There is no orenge Fusion but the red is very bright and shinny even when dry. I live in FL; after 2 years in the sun they are still a sharp red no fading at all. The shininess lasted a year. No chipping or flaking off what so ever. Very easy to see. I touch them up to cover bird marks once in a great while but that's it. I get asked if the buoys are new all the time. I know some have been on 3yrs or more. They have green and yellow.
  2. I've used Clinchers for years know. More than 6 If not more. I will never go back to regular cloves. When Clincher stopped making them I bought 5 pair. On my last pair. The Radar and Master Locks look the same as far as the strap and dowel goes. IMO. Both have better clove material then the clinchers by far and the Master Locks felt the same when I tried a pair on with a handle on dry land. For me the key was finding the correct diameter handle for release. I have not had a handle stay locked when I let go. Will buy one or the other when the Clinhers finally give out. Interested to hear how the Radars compare.
  3. My buddy from MN is lookn for a new boat cover. His boat is stored indoors in winter and next to the house covered and in shade during the summer. He does trailer the boat covered once a year to a cabin so snug fit a must. Â It's a CB 1994 Malibu Echelon. Gel is in fair, some oxidation. He usually covers it when it's still wet/damp inside. Â Looking for any recommendations and the best places to get a good/fair deal. Any thoughts on vented covers?Â
  4. My dermatologist....? Â She is good-looking. Â Her nurse is as well. Â Add a good looking intern and what you have? Â A waste of perfectly good naked time. Man that light was bright. Â Not a requirement to see a good lookn Dermatologist. But it helps. Â
  5. WSmag ran the article in the September 2010 issue on Skin Cancer. I do wish it stood out better considering they ran a very noticeable 2 page article on handle injuries. Skin cancer kills 8000 people a year. The article is worth looking at. Page 18. Will Asher on the cover. AB is right. Hats are your friend. Be proud of your whiteness. SPF sunblock and SPF clothing all help a great deal. ESPECIALLY ON KIDS!!!! Just to clarify in the article, my barefooter freind that passed from cancer left behind a son and daughter (not just a son) and a wife. I've wanted them to correct that but never did write them. Ray and his family will be in our prayers.
  6. The American Skier Vonlante report: 1998 WSM boat buyers guide back when it was a useful tool to have. For manufacturing American skier goes beyond minimum Coast Guard standards. Instead goes for NMMA certification by the American Boat & Yacht Council. The only manufacture to do so. Used aircraft structural foam as core material in the stringers and deck with traditional lamination schedule AME 5000 resins. Uses material called Trevira in the lay up for a 500 pound lighter, yet higher strength to weight ratio boat. Boat left in mold for 5 days assuring perfect shape. Has a 4 gallon reserve tank. Cool Compared 1998 Volante to a 198 Nautique 34mph stats: (similar stats at 36 for both) >>>Volante Accelerates to 36 in 5.36 seconds 176 ft. Tracking= 90 (lower # the better), Wake size=Tournament , Wake hardness=World class, Spray=World Class (world class is one notch better than tournament) >>>For the Nautique 197 TSC 1 Accelerates to 36 in 5.22 seconds 155ft. Tracking=94, Wake size=world class, Wake hardness=Tournament, Spray=World class. Those are close stats if you ask me. I do remember that boat doing well with all the above. This was a boat I was considering in 2003 if I came across one but they are far and few between. I ended up with a 1997 Nautique Masters Edition 197. Questionably the best hull ever built even against today’s top 3. The Volante stood out as a top tournament boat and the stats prove it. It outpaced several closed bow models that year and several years after. The pictures are amazing as to the condition of the one you’re looking at. The tower adds value along with the huge open bow (biggest in the industry). It’s a little off the radar in its name recognition but for resale the design and tower opens it up to a much wider market than the 197 by a long shot. 15 grand in my opinion is not that far off. Closer to 13 maybe. But, if you’re not a diehard must have Nautique slalom junky and like a boat that offers diversity while maintaining great slalom wakes this one may be for you. I would defiantly ski it and see. It’s got a lot to offer in terms of extras and condition and that would pump up the price of a Nautique of that year to 15. (WOW on the condition via pics) HOPE THIS HELPS. Good hunting.
  7. If you can see a dermatologist. Basically they will look you over head to toe, literally. There is no modesty here and there should not be. If they simply look at your face and arms that's not good enough. My father had a poor dermatologist and they missed something because they did not have him disrobe. He ended up in surgery last year but the melanoma last year. It did not transision beyond the lesion site. He did not have to have chemo but is checked by a dermatologist twice a year. Once a year with a dermitologist is adequate for the general population. Please feel free to ask me any question. If I don't know I will find out. Good to see some response.
  8. Did you make your appointment today?? I went to bed late tonight but checked BOS just one last time and was stunned. I don't know Ray personally but share the same type melanoma cancer but at an earlier stage. I've grown to hate that word. I was diagnosed in 2004. Two surgeries months of recovery and a year of chemotherapy has left it in remission now for six years. I get CT and PET scans along with visits to the dermatologist 2 times a year and will for the rest of my life. Â It can come back. Â When I read that Ray had cancer my first thought was melanoma but did not want to jump to conclusions and hated the idea that it might be. Â After a year of pressing WSmag to run an article on the subject knowing the amount of time we all spend outside, they finally agreed and ran a small story back in an early 2010 summer issue (I'll sight exactly which later today). Â I told Todd it needed to be written because it will save lives. Â One thing about this type of deadly cancer is that no one can tell you when you acquired it. The melinoma specialists at the Moffit Cancer Center in Tamp FL told me that no one can pin point the onset and it could have started when I was a teen. Â We didnt know much of sunblock back then or had ever heard of a dermatologist. Â With that said, the most affective way to prevent this from happening to you is to SEE a dermatologist. Â Â We can start a grass roots movement right here right now. Â It only takes a phone call and about 30mn of your time. Â Â Keep this thread alive and at the top of the list by posting the following words the day you make your appointment: Â "I made my appointment". Â Â If you already see one, post the same words. Â This will make a huge impact on our lives and the lives of our families and friends across our sport and others. Â I'll start. Â "I MADE MY APPOINTMENT" Â Â Thank you.Â
  9. Skied behind and drove one back in the early 90's. Looked exactly the same. I remember it was easy to drive, and tracked well in course (course on a big wide open lake so big turns at the end). I remember it seemed to not "give" any skiing behind it. Small bump at 15 and 22. But that was compared to the boats back then. I dont remember any open bow being better in the boat buyers guides compared to it. I have the boat buyers guide from 1997 and all the way back to 92 and I know it's in alot of them and the guide was very useful back then. I can look it up if you'd like and report back. Will be back home tomorrow. I vaguely remember they were one of a few NO wood boats. And they held some high honer only award to high end yachts for quality of construction. But this is all off memory.
  10. This has been a very educational thread for me. I haven't heard anyone mention how wide and early matches up with different ski shapes and skier styles. Isn't that more of a factor for the "ideal path" ? The following are two vids of Thomas D and Chris R 2009 Worlds. They both get it done with almost identical timing but seemingly different paths as it relates to Wide Early North South East West. Two different shaped skis, two different styles and two seemingly different paths.
  11. SportTube is the way to go. Have used one for years. It's adjustable to size and lockable. Have also rapped pipe insulation around the edge of the entire ski. Along with towels, vest, and some clothes stuffed around the ski with a good fin protector, it's bullet proof. Tip the curbside check-in sky cab guys a little extra (if there's one available) and they will sometimes ignore the airline policy. They've even skipped the weight check. With all the things you can stuff in there, 50lbs is easy to go over.
