  1. If the old oil sits in the bearings much of it drains off during extended periods of time. The residue often stay on the bearing surface. Next start up it shortens the life of the bearing somewhat.

    Also, if you leave the old oil in full, "acid" (it's not real acid) that is formed goes to the top. So you can get some slight etching into the metal at that contact point. I suspect that in antique cars they are talking about a longer than 1 winter storage time but am not sure. Of course if there is water from condensation in the oil yeah you can rust out the pan.

     

  2. I have two courses on the same lake. One course is in a more or less constant 14'-16' but out away from the shore line. That course I never feel comfortable on and have never skied it to near a PB. My second course varies between 4' at one end and goes to 12 ' at the other. Although surveyed, I find that the shallow end of is much easier to ski and all my PB's seen to start from that end (38 @ 34 mph).

    Water depth and shore line, it definitely makes a difference.

  3. I did that several years back but not to that extreme. I played with different sizes, lengths and depths. I wasn't looking to get much lift, just a little. With deep ones I got too much turbulence. Ended up with a 1'-0" long strip on back with about a 5 degree down angle.

    Was perfect. Now that I took out about 350 lbs out of the boat with aluminum I have no need for it.

  4. All the little tiny old fishing boat motors going out at 5:30 and 6:00 in the morning are louder that our boats. Had one this morning at 5:45am the guys were screaming to talk to each other. That said the new motors are quiet.
  5. I've seen several people tighten down their displays too much on a curved dash. After a while the internal wiring ad or connectors loose good connection. Same thing happens when people try to straighten the display by twisting them when they are too tight. You can take it apart and plug the connectors in again or re-solder if necessary.
  6. You probably noticed that the numbers on the Goode website have changed radically in the last week. I'm the same as you but lff, 140 lb - 65.25. I used the original #'s then went to the new ones you are trying but found I couldn't ski with that much tip as I had the same off side problem. I went to 6.776 and problem solved. Skiing is back to matching my pb's
