Watching the video why did you let go?

Well like I said in the OP after taking 2 1/2 years off I felt like I was in a blender at the rapid fire velocity that happens in the course in 17"  Letting go was better than getting injured -just the PT in me

The best coaching that day was **Slow your gate down** That was in the 1st set as I was dropping in spiking the load and it only got worse. So there ya go!😁

  2. Following several years off the water due to back pain and pursuing Mt biking, last week I opted to get back on the water! I live at -25 and was very comfortable there so I opted to start there. Although this is not the most spectacular out the front crash but it brings up the question of how much directional lean is too much?   I look ok off 2 ball then right at the 1st wake it was too much.  Years ago there was a great pic of Bishop (I think) leaning away but also in the direction of  travel. Slowing the vid it made me think of that

  3. I had a partial release of my front carbitex boot yesterday. Back foot came out no prob but the front boot did not allow my front foot to fully come out resulting in some strained medial and lateral ligaments and my achilles is pretty sore which means I was likely on the threshold of some serious damage.

I've read here about putting bags over the liners or soap apart from the obvious don't lace the top tight -which I never do.

    Whats some effective methods?

  4. The advice originally came from Greg Badal.

@Than_Bogan I do, however have the tendency to grab the handle.

@MISkier TW said he builds speed early and a gal coached by Maple said he told her the same.

For me to wait a bit is probably better since I like to try and snatch the handle early.

The whole idea of waiting is to allow the ski to finish into cross course angle

  5. When I watch the pros they lean, and then lean a little more than anyone I've seen at my lake. When I try to get that extra bit I end up lean locked and pull too long. -28 to -32 is the context here.

It seems obvious that this extra lean angle aids in an early snappy edge change due to the increased force on the cutting edge.

What's the key in working toward this increased lean angle?

  6. I start the course loose and by 3 ball I'm probably up to 11

By over gripping we tell our sympathetic nervous system 'stress mode' and nothing good happens in stress mode

The best solution I've found is setting up for the gate smile and adjust the handle toward your finger tips.

The Smile while relaxing your facial muscles and upper traps tells your autonomic nervous system to chill. Get centered over the ski and Go!

'Performance rock climbing' is a great book I read years ago that talks about this stuff and balancing the optimal amount of psyche with breathing and 'tension control' promotes not over gripping and pumping out on the rock (or pulling too long).
