  1. Sorry folks- It's been a few years since I've been on this site. Yes I can confirm the site just off I-69 south of IN 28 is Sunset Ski Lake where I ski. As @WoodySkier mentions it's a short setup but we tapped the expertise of some gentlemen who used to ski at Wet Set and we've made some positive changes to the site!
  2. Boondocks is a bit south of Frankfort and would be pretty close to him in Zionsville. I’ve skied at Silent Shores as well- fantastic. I know a guy who had a submersible course on Morse lake but the lake turns into such a crap show shortly after dawn so he also had a membership up at Kokomo. Pics to help you locate Boondocks

  3. fun times these "why don't more people ski tournaments" threads are.

@wish and @ScarletArrow have some good thoughts regarding us -15/-22 guys. In my area there's a lot of us- tearing it up at 32 mph and pulling the kids through the mini-course several times a week.

    here's my metrics

How many set/week do you ski, both practice and tournament if you ski tournaments? 5-10

How far away is the nearest tournament to you, whether on not you ski tournaments? 1hour

    Do you ski tournaments? no

Do you have school aged kids? yes- 3

  4. Never point a gun at anything you're not willing to destroy- was he really willing to destroy some 15 and 16 year-old kids over having his boat rocked? It could have been a teachable moment with a younger generation about respecting others but instead he pulls out a S&W .357 revolver.
  5. Earlier this spring I skied with @Sethski for $45 a set. It was a "non-coached" set... except Seth was the driver and threw out some great advice even though he insisted on not charging me for the coaching since he was driving. Plus he let my 10-year-old ride along who is now entirely pumped about skiing this year.
  6. I've noticed when I go to a ski school if they ask " what's your setting" and I reply "whatever is closest to perfect pass" it's a crap shoot what they select. I also learned I sound more intelligent if I pick a letter followed by a number and try to not fall coming through the gate. I'm also always glad to come back home to my TSC 1 stargazer tug.
  7. If you have an old kneeboard around that's a good way of getting kids used to being behind the boat- most kids will have instant success and fun with it; it seems like my 1988 hydroslide gets a workout from our guests
  8. @akale15 thanks to ball of spray I bought a 2001 nautique from another member and had it shipped from California to Indiana. It's been nothing but fantastic. Flat wake, handles great. Slalom nuts tend to take care of their stuff.
  9. If you've not tried surfing I would try it out before you make it a criterion for your next boat. I think it's pretty boring compared to skiing. I think people like it because you can drink beer while doing it but for my dollar I'll drink beer at the dock instead.
